PRACTICAL RESOURCE
Build an AI evaluation sample for service handoffs
A job ticket can show that a request arrived.
A job ticket can show that a request arrived. A signed receipt can establish who accepted the handoff. A later verification record may be needed to show the work is finished. If your business handles service tickets, field visits, deliveries or facility intake, use this worksheet to test whether an AI system can tell those events apart.
What the public evidence supports
| Evidence | What it shows | What to check before preparing data |
|---|---|---|
| Scale AI lists staffing and recruiting and business services in its data partnership program. | Public sourcing interest in real, structured operating workflows. Scale says its program seeks established operators and real workflows. | Confirm current category fit, authorization, permitted fields and terms before discussing an operational package. The fictional worksheet is for evaluation design. |
| AWS Contact Lens offers conditional quality evaluation questions. | A commercial example of evaluating whether the right follow-up applies to a particular interaction. | A commercial feature is evidence for the evaluation use case. Ask a buyer directly whether it needs externally licensed examples. |
| EPA's manifest system tracks applicable hazardous waste transfers from generator to designated facility. | A public example of different parties documenting each transfer, with a signed record confirming receipt. | Use original practice forms. Ask a qualified person to review any real process data and its proposed use. |

Assemble three cases
- A handoff with matching evidence. Write an original service ticket and a separate acceptance record. Give them matching identifiers and a plausible time sequence. Keep closure as a distinct label.
- A near match. Change one identifier in the recipient's record. Ask the reviewer to confirm that the model leaves the handoff unresolved and identifies what failed to match.
- A pending handoff. Provide a sender event and omit recipient acceptance. Require the model to preserve “sent” and explain what evidence would establish receipt.
Give an independent reviewer the source key, expected status and records to cite. Score identifier matching, status, attribution and response to missing evidence separately. If you expand to multiple sites or customers, group related examples so the same job stays on one side of any training and evaluation split.
Before sharing, identify who owns each form, clip or image, who appears in it and which organization can authorize downstream use. Use independently authored props to start. Keep real customer identifiers, addresses, access details and production records out of the initial submission.

An original handoff state table in words
Practice ticket H-8 has a sender dispatch record and a recipient acceptance, both naming H-8. It has no completion check. Ticket H-9 has a dispatch record only. A completed record for H-6 belongs to a different job. The reference status is received but not confirmed complete for H-8, and sent with receipt unresolved for H-9.
Require the response to cite the record that establishes each state. Copying H-6’s completion would be an identity error, while calling H-8 complete would be a status error. Keep those categories separate in review. A second exercise can change the order of the documents without changing the key, testing whether the assistant uses evidence rather than presentation order.
