Sanitary paper data for AI ply and package records

Sanitary paper products can have a declared sheet count, ply construction and package configuration.

NAICS 322291 · Sanitary Paper Product Manufacturing

Sanitary paper products can have a declared sheet count, ply construction and package configuration. TAPPI publishes testing guidance for paper products. A contributor can create a document-and-image exercise that preserves which of those facts is observed and which is merely declared. TAPPI paper testing context

Stage clean paper samples, original package mockups and a fictional converting ledger. Show an exposed sheet edge in one view and a wrapped roll in another. Ask the assistant to identify the visible construction and match each package to its recorded configuration. Include a packaging proof whose count changed between revisions while the outer design remained similar.

Label ply observation, declared sheet count, roll identifier and proof version separately. A held-out case can use a different fold pattern and package layout. Score extending a visible observation to unobserved material, wrong-version matches and unsupported count claims independently. The reference key should avoid deriving absorbency or hygiene performance from appearance.

Use clean props and invented production data. Real customer brands, proprietary converting settings and outside test reports need permission before sharing. A licensing brief should identify the specific configuration-review task and independent annotation. Establish buyer fit before preparing a broader archive or collecting production imagery.

Original Fiund exercise

Ply count is not sheet count

Inert paper and an original carton mockup provide visual and ledger evidence for a fictional pack.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
T1Pack printPack K reads 20 sheets, 2-ply.
T2Conversion tallyPack K received 20 finished sheets.
T3Peel photoOne sampled sheet separated into three visibly distinct layers.
T4Sampling logOnly one of the 20 sheets was peeled.

Question for the model

Which claim is contradicted and at what scope?

Show the reference answer and checks

T3 contradicts the two-ply claim on T1 for the one sampled sheet. T2 independently supports the 20-sheet count. T4 prevents asserting all 20 sheets have three plies; preserve the observed sample scope and keep the two count dimensions separate.

  • Counting each separated layer as a finished sheet
  • Generalizing from one sampled sheet to the full pack

Fields to preserve

finished_sheet_count
Tracks sale units apart from constituent layers
observed_ply_count
Records layers on the tested sheet
sample_n
Limits the scope of the observation

Test another case

Use one sheet with a partially torn third ply; label the visible section and uncertainty before generalizing across the sheet.

Use owned mock packages and no hygiene, consumer labeling or commercial quality claims.

Discuss a contribution

Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
