Circuit board assembly rework data for AI inspection

An assembly inspection photo can show the right board and the wrong moment.

An assembly inspection photo can show the right board and the wrong moment. If the photo predates rework, the next reviewer needs current evidence. The standards publisher describes IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 as electronics assembly standards. A training board and fictional traveler can support a versioned review without sharing the standards text or an actual customer board. Electronics assembly standards announcement

Pair a before image and a later image of the same reference designator on an owned practice board. Add a rework event and qualified reviewer’s result, with timestamps and clear image orientation. Include another image with the correct orientation but the wrong board ID. Ask the model to select the evidence that belongs to the final state and flag any missing view. Keep optical observations distinct from functional test results.

Clear rights in board artwork and component images. Exclude production BOMs, customer serials, confidential rework settings, and unapproved failure imagery. Power the board down for all sample photography.

Describe an assembly review dataset

Original Fiund exercise

The same reference designator changes state after rework

An original paper board uses neutral reference positions. There is no actual electronics rework instruction.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
1Before imageBoard B7 position R4 has visible tilted paper token.
2Rework logA replacement event recorded for B7/R4 at 11:20.
3After imageAt 11:30 B7/R4 token appears aligned; surrounding positions not shown.

Question for the model

How should the two views appear in a training record?

Show the reference answer and checks

Retain the tilted observation before the event and the aligned observation after it for B7/R4, using all three records. The later image supersedes neither the historical label nor evidence for neighboring positions. It does not establish electrical functionality.

  • Deduplicating before and after as contradictory copies
  • Using post-event appearance as a functional test

Test another case

Record a second rework event without an after view; leave that latest visual state unverified.

No real circuit diagrams, repair procedures, electrical tests or customer board images.

Discuss a contribution

Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
