A distributor can ship a starter display and refill packs that share individual product names. GS1 explains package hierarchies. A practice inventory task can show how the wholesale order specifies the assortment while the restock record uses units. GS1 US packaging levels
Set up a dummy display box and two refill cartons. Give the display an original component list, and leave one refill count unverified. Ask which items can be reconciled to the order and which are merely visible. Score display, refill and each-level quantities separately.
Use original office props and labels. Exclude retailer store IDs, prices, order records and branded designs. Obtain capture rights if filmed.

Starter display contents and refill-unit totals require different packaging conversions
A dummy display and two empty refill cartons use original office-supply labels. No actual retailer, product design, price or order record appears.
| Record | Source | What it records |
|---|---|---|
| SWR1 | Starter display D | One approved display includes six original practice units of A and four of B. Exact component list matched to D. |
| SWR2 | Refill carton R-A | Two verified packs of A at five units per pack. Both pack count and conversion documented. |
| SWR3 | Refill carton R-B | One carton received, package label visible but units-per-carton field missing. No verified refill count supplied. |
Question for the model
What quantities can be reconciled by level, and can the display's B component count fill the refill-carton gap?
Show the reference answer and checks
SWR1 supports one display with six A and four B components. SWR2 separately supports ten A refill units. SWR3 establishes receipt of one B refill carton but not its individual count; D's four B components are a different package scope. Report display, refill packs and consumer units independently rather than apply the starter assortment to replenishment or claim a complete cross-package inventory total from visible cartons.
- Using a starter display's component count as a refill conversion.
- Mixing displays, packs and eaches in one unqualified total.
Fields to preserve
- Display/refill ID and packaging level
- Defines the quantity scope.
- Component list and conversion source
- Supports arithmetic.
- Verified receipt and missing unit count
- Preserves the gap.
Test another case
Add a B refill carton with a verified eight-unit count. Require distinct display and refill quantities even when reporting a combined B subtotal of 12.
Use original owned props and labels. Exclude prices, retailer IDs and branded materials; clear capture rights separately.
