A dispatch file can contain multiple versions of a permit and an attachment that applies to only one version. FHWA’s oversize and overweight resources show why authorization context matters. A specialized carrier can test version selection with mock records and leave route planning and legal judgments with authorized staff. FHWA oversize and overweight permit resources

Write fictional permit packets for two training loads, with issuance dates and vehicle aliases. Supersede one attachment and leave the earlier file in the packet. Ask the model which evidence is current and which details require confirmation. Include an incomplete exercise where the date matches but the vehicle reference does not. The model should produce a document review result only.

Avoid real routes, vehicles, escorts, permit numbers, cargo specifications, and proprietary approvals. Use a detached document set that cannot be mistaken for valid authority.

Describe a permit records evaluation

Original Fiund exercise

A current attachment must match the permit packet's load and vehicle alias

Two wholly invented document packets are visibly nonvalid and contain no route, escort, cargo specification or actual permit number. They authorize no movement.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
SPV1Load A packetOriginal permit fixture P-A for vehicle DEMO-V1. Attachment A1 issued day 1; A2 issued day 3 explicitly supersedes A1 for P-A/V1.
SPV2As-of reviewRequested date day 4. Both attachments remain in the folder; A1 bears the older abstract condition label X and A2 Y.
SPV3Load B packetCurrent date matches, but attachment names P-B/DEMO-V2 while cover names P-B/DEMO-V3. No vehicle correction or equivalence supplied.

Question for the model

Which attachment is current for A, and can B's date match resolve its vehicle conflict?

Show the reference answer and checks

SPV1 and SPV2 select A2 and abstract condition Y for the day-four A review because it explicitly supersedes A1 under the same permit and vehicle aliases. SPV3 matches its date but conflicts on vehicle V2 versus V3, so it needs authorized clarification. Date currency alone does not establish scope. Return document-version and identity findings without planning a route, interpreting legal permission or authorizing a specialized load.

  • Using an obsolete attachment still present in the folder.
  • Accepting a current date while ignoring a conflicting vehicle reference.

Fields to preserve

Load and nonvalid permit alias
Defines the packet.
Attachment supersession and issue date
Selects the version.
Vehicle scope and unresolved mismatch
Limits the match.

Test another case

Give B an authorized vehicle amendment effective after the review date. Require the earlier conflict to remain at the original cutoff.

Use original detached mock forms. Exclude actual routes, vehicles and approvals; qualified staff retain all legal and operational decisions.
