NAICS 333242 · Semiconductor Machinery Manufacturing

SEMI publishes standards for semiconductor equipment and industry systems. A manufacturer can define an original task around matching an equipment event to the configuration and document version that give it meaning. SEMI standards context

Create fictional equipment identifiers, an event glossary and a revision register. Give the same short event code different meanings in two explicitly defined software versions. Ask the assistant which interpretation is supported for a selected test log. Include a version update proposed after the log and an event with no effective version reference. The key should preserve that missing context.

Annotate equipment, software revision, event code, timestamp, glossary version and source record. Hold out a new event naming scheme with its definitions supplied. Score applying a later glossary, inferring a missing version and confusing planned work with recorded events independently. The exercise should contain no production recipe, proprietary interface or live system access.

Use self-authored logs and invented values. Customer process information, licensed interface material and confidential software records need explicit authority. Describe the context-selection task and independent key to prospective buyers. Their accepted specification should determine the operating history or authorized new material worth preparing for licensing.

Original Fiund exercise

The event code changed meaning across firmware versions

An invented tool event glossary uses generic office-state labels. No process, equipment control or fabrication instructions appear.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
1GlossaryCode E4 means queued under rev A, acknowledged under rev B.
2Event exportRow 1 E4 rev A; row 2 E4 rev B.
3Dashboard draftBoth rows decoded as acknowledged using latest glossary.

Question for the model

How should the rows be decoded?

Show the reference answer and checks

Row 1 means queued and row 2 means acknowledged under the version-specific definitions in records 1 and 2. Record 3 is correct only for row 2. Keep the firmware revision with each event so later glossary updates cannot silently rewrite old states.

  • Decoding every code using the latest glossary
  • Counting code equality as semantic equality

Fields to preserve

firmware_revision
Selects the correct definition
event_code
Preserves the raw token
decoded_state
Stores version-specific meaning

Test another case

Give one row with a missing revision and overlapping deployment dates; require an unresolved decode.

No actual fabrication recipes, semiconductor tool configuration, proprietary logs or controls.

Discuss a contribution

Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
