NAICS 333248 · All Other Industrial Machinery Manufacturing

Other industrial machinery covers varied products. A specific custom-module exercise can test whether an assistant follows an engineering change into the record of what was built. The Census manual provides category context. Census industrial-machinery scope

Create a fictional module drawing, change request and assembly record. Approve a new component reference for future units while leaving the selected unit on its earlier configuration. Ask which drawing and component list apply to that unit. Include a purchase order for the new component and a later service note that does not document installation.

Annotate unit, change effectivity, requested part, executed assembly and source date. Evaluation can change the serial convention and introduce a fully documented update. Score future changes applied to earlier units, purchasing treated as installation and unsupported configuration assumptions independently. The key should recognize both the unchanged earlier configuration and a completed supported update.

Use original drawings and invented records. Customer designs, licensed specifications and proprietary project histories require source-specific permission. Describe the effectivity-review task and qualified reviewer process in the licensing brief. Confirm the buyer's accepted sources and required historical relationships before preparing a larger archive.

An approved change is not an executed change

A toy machine module and fictional ticket log cover a single documented change.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
1Change requestCR7 approves replacing module A with B after build 20.
2Build travelerBuild 24 still lists A; no execution event for CR7.
3PhotoModule tag A visible on 24.

Question for the model

What should the build status say about CR7?

Show the reference answer and checks

CR7 is applicable to build 24 under record 1, but its execution is not supported. Records 2 and 3 instead show A, the pre-change module. Flag an approved-versus-built discrepancy; do not count approval as installation or infer why it was not executed.

  • Treating approval as installation evidence
  • Ignoring the effective build range

Fields to preserve

change_request_id
Links the approved action
build_effectivity
Defines where it should apply
executed_component
Records what was actually installed

Test another case

Log an approved deferral for builds 21–25 only; keep build 24 distinct from build 26.

No real industrial equipment drawings, production changes, maintenance procedures or safety conclusions.

Discuss a contribution

Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
