An addendum can apply to one unit or start after the date a resident asked about. HUD publishes lease materials and examples for specific housing programs. A lessor can create an independent mock lease packet to test whether a model finds the controlling records under the exercise’s assumptions. HUD leases and attachments material

Invent two units, an original lease, and one signed addendum with an effective date. Add a draft with a newer file timestamp but no signature. Ask which document the fictional records support for a selected date, and which matter requires a person to review. Include a second case where the same rider title appears for another unit. Evaluate citations and dates, with legal interpretation outside the exercise.

Use no tenant identities, addresses, screening, payment, or accommodation information. Clear any form rights. Create synthetic terms and label them as examples.

Original Fiund exercise

The selected date matters more than the newest file timestamp

Independent mock clauses define documentary rules for imaginary units. This exercise concerns version and date matching, not real tenancy rights or legal advice.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
RA1Unit U1 practice agreementOriginal term label A. Signed rider changes label to B effective day 20.
RA2Newer fileDraft rider changes U1 label to C; saved day 25, unsigned, no effective authorization.
RA3Other unit riderUnit U2 signed rider also titled Update, effective day 10, label D; it does not name U1.

Question for the model

Which term label is supported for U1 on days 15 and 22 under the exercise rules, and does the newer draft or U2 rider change it?

Show the reference answer and checks

RA1 supports label A for U1 on day 15, before its signed rider takes effect, and B on day 22, after day 20. RA2's newer saved timestamp does not supply signature or authority for C. RA3 concerns U2 despite its similar rider title. Preserve unit, effective date and authorization rather than choosing a document solely by filename or latest modification time.

  • Applying the signed rider before its stated effective date.
  • Selecting an unsigned newer draft or another unit's similarly titled rider as controlling for U1.

Fields to preserve

Unit and document relationship
Keeps repeated rider titles separate.
Signed state and effective date
Defines which practice change is authorized at the selected time.
File timestamp
Records storage chronology without confusing it with effectivity.

Test another case

Sign the C rider on day 30 with an explicit day-35 effective date. Ask the model to distinguish signing from the later date the exercise says the change applies.

Use synthetic terms and original forms. Exclude tenant identities, addresses, screening, payment and accommodation information. Real interpretation remains with authorized professionals.

Discuss a contribution

Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
