Raw cotton wholesale bale and classification data for AI
A distributor may handle similar bales whose classification data comes from separate records.
NAICS 424590 · Other Farm Product Raw Material Merchant Wholesalers
A distributor may handle similar bales whose classification data comes from separate records. USDA Agricultural Marketing Service describes cotton classing. An original sample can test whether software links a classification to the correct bale rather than inferring it from appearance. USDA cotton classing resources
Make two dummy bale tags and a mock classification table for one. Use a cropped photograph with an unreadable suffix for the second. Ask which record supports the stated class and what would resolve the missing match.
Use inert props, fabricated values and your own labels. Keep farm data, proprietary supply records, customer details and actual sample reports private.

A classing result follows the bale tag rather than its appearance
Two inert original bale props and fictional classification cards use invalid tags. There is no cotton sample, grower, supply contract, actual classing result or grade decision.
| Record | Source | What it records |
|---|---|---|
| CBW1 | Bale A | Readable tag DEMO-BA1, original reviewed class card names BA1 and abstract class Q. |
| CBW2 | Bale B crop | Similar-looking bale with tag DEMO-BA?; final character cropped. No full B tag or original linked class card. |
| CBW3 | Folder suggestion | Draft assigns Q to B because appearance matches A. A class card with BA2 in another delivery has no verified B link. |
Question for the model
Which bale has a traceable class statement, and what evidence could resolve B without relying on appearance?
Show the reference answer and checks
CBW1 links abstract class Q to exact tag BA1. CBW2 identifies only a partial prefix on B, and CBW3 offers neither a reviewed identity nor a classing source for that physical bale. Request a readable full tag plus a matching original class record, including delivery scope if needed. Do not infer the suffix, transfer A's class by appearance or attribute another delivery's BA2 record to B without provenance.
- Using similar bale appearance as classification evidence.
- Completing an unreadable suffix from the nearest class record without verified association.
Fields to preserve
- Bale tag and delivery scope
- Defines the object.
- Class record target and stated value
- Supports attribution.
- Image visibility and unresolved source
- Limits inference.
Test another case
Reveal a full B tag but no matching class card. Require identity to resolve without a classification claim.
Use inert original props and fabricated records. Exclude actual farms, customers and classing reports.
Discuss a contribution
Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
