Pressed and blown glass products can be inspected by linking an article to its recorded production reference. The Census manual supplies the industry scope. An original exercise can test shape observations and cavity identifiers without claiming material performance from appearance. Census glass manufacturing scope

Use transparent plastic vessel props, a fictional mold-cavity register and a photographic view list. Give two similar articles different base identifiers. Ask the assistant which production reference is supported and which apparent mark disappears under another light angle. Include a view in which the base code is hidden, leaving its association unresolved until a second image is supplied.

Annotate article identity, cavity reference, view direction and visible feature location. Hold out a new vessel shape for evaluation. Score wrong-article pairing separately from a reflection misclassified as a permanent mark. The reference key should state exactly what each view establishes and avoid turning a visible feature into an unsupported process diagnosis.

Start with original props and invented records. Customer molds, licensed product designs and actual quality-system exports require source-specific authority. A licensing proposal should name the identification and visual-review task, required views and independent annotation method. Confirm buyer fit before collecting additional factory material or commissioning live capture.

Original Fiund exercise

A mark repeats in part coordinates, not pixels

An owned clear prop and fictional cavity stamps appear in rotated images. The exercise tests coordinate mapping, not root cause.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
1Stamp mapCircle identifies cavity C4; square identifies C5.
2Image 1Circle stamp, spot one mark clockwise from stamp.
3Image 2Rotated view of same specimen, circle visible; spot still one mark clockwise in specimen frame.

Question for the model

What persistent observation should be recorded?

Show the reference answer and checks

Both images support the same spot at one mark clockwise from the C4 circle, using the stamp map in record 1 and the object-relative position in records 2 and 3. Count it once for this specimen. The evidence does not establish a cavity-wide cause.

  • Counting each view as a separate physical defect
  • Inferring cavity root cause from one specimen

Fields to preserve

cavity_stamp
Links the view to the fictional cavity
relative_mark_offset
Aligns through rotation
specimen_group
Deduplicates multiple views of one part

Test another case

Use another C4 specimen with a different spot; keep the shared cavity label but distinct defect events.

No real mold parameters, glass recipes, manufacturing root-cause claims or customer acceptance.

Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
