Meat wholesale case count and catch-weight records for AI

A shipment can match the ordered case count while the measured weight differs from the estimate.

A shipment can match the ordered case count while the measured weight differs from the estimate. GS1 US describes variable-measure items, and federal labeling rules provide meat label context. A fictional example can test count and weight reconciliation. GS1 US variable measure guidance · Federal meat labeling rules

Create an original order for three cases and mock individual weights for two. Make the third case a documented substitution with missing weight. Ask which totals can be reported and which need further evidence. Score the unit, product and order line.

Use dummy case labels and no actual product, customer orders, supplier prices or commercial processing footage.

Describe a synthetic catch-weight exercise

Original Fiund exercise

A complete case count does not establish total measured weight

An original wholesale case fixture uses empty props and invented mass values. No actual meat, customer, commercial price, settlement action or food decision appears.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
CWW1Order lineThree practice cases of item A, estimated combined mass 30 practice kg. Estimate explicitly not a scale total.
CWW2Matched weightsCases A1=9 kg and A2=11 kg, both exact reviewed measurements for that line.
CWW3Approved substitute caseCase B1 accepted as third case under original line substitution. Its measured weight absent. Generic receiving receipt counts three cases.

Question for the model

Which count and weight subtotal are supported, and can the order estimate supply the missing third case weight?

Show the reference answer and checks

CWW2 and CWW3 reconcile three received cases under the stated substitution, but only A1 and A2 have verified weights, totaling 20 practice kg. CWW1's 30 is an order estimate, not an actual total; subtracting 20 to assign ten to B1 would invent a measurement. Preserve matched case count, measured subtotal and missing substitute weight separately. The fixture provides no commercial settlement, labeling or food-safety determination.

  • Treating an estimated combined weight as measured.
  • Back-calculating a missing substituted case from the order estimate or equating count completion with weight completion.

Fields to preserve

Order line and case alias
Defines the scope.
Estimated versus measured mass
Separates quantity bases.
Substitution approval and missing weight
Limits totals.

Test another case

Add a verified B1 weight of eight practice kg. Require measured total 28 while retaining 30 as original estimate.

Use empty props and original synthetic tickets. Exclude actual products and transactions; authorized staff retain all product and payment decisions.
