Hardware product data for AI pack and compatibility checks
A contractor may need 40 fasteners while the order form only accepts cases.

A contractor may need 40 fasteners while the order form only accepts cases. A shopper may bring a photo of a fitting that looks interchangeable but has a different thread. A hardware dataset can test whether an assistant checks the right attributes before suggesting an item. GS1 publishes product and packaging information used in data exchange. Scale lists retail and consumer businesses in its operational-data program, with project fit assessed individually. GS1 product field definitions · Scale Data Partnerships
Test the unit before the recommendation
Create a fabricated catalog with each, inner pack and case units. For a wholesaler, give the assistant a purchase order in eaches and ask it to detect an order-quantity mismatch. For a retailer, show a shelf label and a lookalike fitting with a distinct compatibility attribute. Record the correct identifier, required conversion, evidence and whether the assistant should ask for another measurement. Hold back one product group for evaluation.
Check images, product feeds and prices separately
Vendor contracts can restrict catalog images and manufacturer specifications. Start with fabricated records and controlled photos. Remove negotiated costs, customer data and non-public assortment plans. Confirm the intended use before sharing a real feed. GS1 electronic product information

Original Fiund exercise
A case conversion can satisfy a piece count only when the SKU also matches the required thread
A fictional hardware catalog and purchase-order fixture uses inert codes and arbitrary attributes. It includes no real fitting, installation, customer, negotiated cost or manufacturer feed.
| Record | Source | What it records |
|---|---|---|
| HOL1 | Order requirement | Practice order needs 40 pieces of item family F, thread code T1 and size S. Buyer accepts full cases only in this fixture. |
| HOL2 | Catalog variants | Distributor SKU D1, maker code M1: F/S/T1, 20 pieces per case. Similar D2/M2: F/S/T2, 40 pieces per case. |
| HOL3 | Draft order and image | Draft selects one D2 case because 40 pieces. Separate lookalike image lacks thread measurement; no approved D1/D2 equivalence. |
Question for the model
Which case quantity meets the specified order, and why are the draft and lookalike image insufficient?
Show the reference answer and checks
HOL1 and HOL2 select D1/M1's T1 variant and two cases at 20 pieces each, yielding the required 40. HOL3's one D2 case has the right piece count but wrong T2 thread code. Its lookalike image lacks thread evidence and cannot override the documented mismatch. Preserve internal SKU, maker code and units independently; the exercise does not determine real-world installation suitability or recommend an actual fitting.
- Choosing the pack that yields the right quantity while ignoring compatibility attributes.
- Inferring thread type from a similar photo or confusing manufacturer and distributor identifiers.
Fields to preserve
- Order unit and required thread/size
- Defines exact criteria.
- Distributor and maker identifiers
- Preserves variant linkage.
- Pieces per case and missing measurement
- Supports conversion and abstention.
Test another case
Remove the required thread from a different product-family request. Require clarification even if one case size conveniently matches its quantity.
Use fabricated catalog records and original images. Exclude restricted feeds and prices; qualified staff retain actual fitment and purchase decisions.
Discuss a contribution
Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project.
