Furniture rental component and condition data for AI
A furniture set can be returned in several pieces, and one photograph may establish the condition of only one piece.

A furniture set can be returned in several pieces, and one photograph may establish the condition of only one piece. Census includes residential furniture rentals in this industry. The FTC has studied the rent-to-own market. A rental company can design a simple example for matching items and observations without sharing customer history. Use an owned training chair with removable parts or an invented kit diagram. Tag the frame and detachable pieces. Give one return record a clear image and another a condition note referring to a similar set. Ask which parts are supported as received and which observation cannot be linked. Include one case without an initial condition record.
Remove home interiors, customer names, addresses, rental terms, payment data, and manufacturer designs you do not control. Do not infer damage responsibility from the sample.
Describe a furniture return dataset
Original Fiund exercise
A frame photo cannot establish receipt or prior condition of every piece
A dummy furniture kit uses an owned lightweight chair prop and detachable paper component tags. The exercise separates component receipt, observation and baseline evidence.
| Record | Source | What it records |
|---|---|---|
| FU1 | Kit diagram SET-A | Frame F1, cushion C1 and feet kit K1 belong to SET-A. SET-B uses C2. |
| FU2 | Return image | F1 tag visible; surface mark visible on frame. Cushion tag hidden; feet kit outside frame. |
| FU3 | Condition note | Names C2 in SET-B and describes a cushion mark. No outgoing baseline for SET-A's frame supplied. |
Question for the model
Which SET-A piece is identified as received, and what can be established about its mark or the other components?
Show the reference answer and checks
FU2 identifies F1 as present and shows a frame mark. Without an outgoing F1 baseline, the packet does not establish whether that mark is new or who caused it. The hidden cushion tag and unshown feet kit leave C1 and K1 receipt unresolved. FU3 concerns C2 from SET-B and cannot establish C1's condition or presence in SET-A.
- Using a frame image as proof that the full furniture set was returned.
- Attributing damage responsibility without a comparable baseline or importing SET-B's cushion note.
Fields to preserve
- Set and component identity
- Prevents similarly named pieces from different kits being merged.
- View coverage and tag visibility
- Limits the receipt claim to observed pieces.
- Outgoing baseline availability
- Shows why a new-damage claim is unsupported.
Test another case
Supply an outgoing F1 image showing the same mark but with C1 visible only at pickup. Require separate findings for pre-existing frame appearance and unresolved cushion return.
Use original diagrams and approved owned props. Exclude home interiors, customer details, addresses, payment histories and protected manufacturer designs.
