Ceramic fixture data for AI template and finish review

Pottery, ceramics and plumbing fixtures share a broad industry category, so a data proposal should identify the actual article and operation.

NAICS 327110 · Pottery, Ceramics, and Plumbing Fixture Manufacturing

Pottery, ceramics and plumbing fixtures share a broad industry category, so a data proposal should identify the actual article and operation. The Census manual defines that scope. An original fixture exercise can focus on template fit and visible surface evidence. Census 2022 industry definitions

Make a paper fixture profile, an original mounting template and a fictional inspection card. Give two variants similar outer shapes but different mounting-hole spacing. Ask the assistant which variant matches the supplied template. Include a finish photograph with a deliberate reflection that resembles a blemish, then provide a second angle that resolves the appearance. The key should treat geometry and surface observations as separate findings.

Annotate reference points, scale, variant identity, view and instruction revision. Hold out a different profile for evaluation. Score a wrong-template match independently from mistaking a reflection for a surface mark. A completed measurement should cite its reference points rather than infer fit from the product's name or overall appearance.

Use original designs and harmless props. Actual customer molds, licensed fixture drawings and laboratory reports need permission for the intended AI use. Describe the comparison task and independently reviewed examples to prospective buyers. Confirm the needed views, measurement context and source rights before preparing a larger manufacturing archive.

An offset measured from the wrong datum

An owned paper fixture template has a marked baseline and a fictional symmetric cutout. It is not installation guidance.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
1TemplateHole center H is 32 mm from datum D, which is 5 mm inside the outside edge.
2Measurement sheetH is 37 mm from the outside edge along the same axis.
3ImageD and the outside edge are both marked; no tolerance stated.

Question for the model

Is the recorded center inconsistent with the template?

Show the reference answer and checks

The values agree after accounting for the 5 mm reference offset: 37 − 5 equals 32 mm from D. Records 1 and 2 use different origins on the same axis. This is a coordinate reconciliation only; record 3 gives no tolerance or fit basis.

  • Comparing offsets from different datums directly
  • Turning geometric agreement into an installation approval

Fields to preserve

datum_offset
Translates between reference origins
hole_center_axis
Keeps coordinate directions aligned
comparison_basis
Distinguishes reconciliation from fit

Test another case

Move the datum to the other side of the edge; require applying the signed offset rather than subtracting automatically.

No real fixture specifications, room layouts, installation advice or product approvals.

Discuss a contribution

Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
