Specify judgment, then measure agreement

If a buyer needs an expert to review whether an insurance assistant cites its evidence correctly, give the provider examples of good answers, plausible mistakes and genuinely ambiguous cases. Require a review protocol with disagreement handling and an independently scored holdout. Ask whether the team delivers prompts, completions, reviewer rationales and rubric versions together.

Set ownership and confidentiality before calibration

A realistic task does not require sharing confidential client records. Use fabricated cases for the first calibration and agree in writing on secure data handling before any sensitive access. Clarify ownership of contributed work and which data can be reused. Request a scoped quote based on accepted artifacts and review depth. Public service descriptions do not determine the cost of your project or a contributor’s rate.

An original expert-calibration exercise

Create three fictional assistant responses to the same administrative evidence package. One cites the correct source, one cites an unrelated attachment and one correctly says a required record is missing. Ask reviewers to apply a written rubric before comparing their judgments.

Record the reviewer’s decision, supporting source, rationale, rubric version and any unresolved disagreement. A final preference label alone can conceal whether reviewers disagreed about the facts or the rule. Hold out a new case family to check whether calibration generalizes beyond the examples discussed with the provider.

Scope the expert service and the work product

A buyer should identify the skills required for each judgment and how the provider checks them. Ask whether the delivery includes authored tasks, answers, rationales, review history and adjudication, and whether those are separate commercial units. Define replacement for rejected work and the treatment of a changed rubric.

An individual following the linked expert route should review the actual engagement and confidentiality terms. Expertise can support original examples without granting rights to an employer’s or client’s files. Confirm work-product ownership and portfolio restrictions. Public AI-training positioning does not establish a particular role allocation, project rate or buyer acceptance threshold.
