Wiring device data for AI variant and terminal-map records

Current-carrying wiring devices form a defined Census category.

NAICS 335931 · Current-Carrying Wiring Device Manufacturing

Current-carrying wiring devices form a defined Census category. An original static exercise can focus on matching a device variant to its supplied reference map and drawing revision. Census wiring-device scope

Create fictional device faces, neutral position markers and an original map. Give two variants similar exterior outlines but different marker references. Ask which map applies to each paper prop. Include a mirrored rear view, a superseded drawing and a product ticket missing its suffix. The key should identify the reference direction and the unresolved variant.

Annotate device, variant, marker, view side, drawing revision and source record. Evaluate with a new outline and numbering convention. Score mirrored interpretation, matching by enclosure alone and a missing suffix guessed independently. The exercise should compare its own evidence without providing live wiring, installation or operating instructions.

Use original designs and inert props. Customer designs, licensed specifications, certification artwork and proprietary component records require permission and appropriate review. Describe the view-and-version task and checked key in the licensing brief. Establish buyer requirements before preparing additional commercial material or commissioning capture.

The physical marker fixes which row is being compared

An original paper device face uses abstract terminal-shaped marks with no electrical connections.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
1Mock variant ATriangle up: label X in top row, Y in bottom.
2Mock variant BTriangle up: Y top, X bottom.
3PhotoTriangle pointing down; X appears at image top, Y at image bottom.

Question for the model

Which layout matches after orienting the photo?

Show the reference answer and checks

Rotate record 3 by 180° to put the triangle up. Y then appears on top and X on bottom, matching variant B in record 2. The uncorrected image would resemble A if the locator were ignored. This is a geometry label only.

  • Comparing before using the orientation mark
  • Inferring electrical function from the toy labels

Fields to preserve

orientation_marker
Determines view transform
row_assignment
Records feature position in the reference view
variant_match
Requires all mapped features

Test another case

Hide the triangle and use an otherwise symmetric prop; retain the visible row labels but abstain on variant.

Paper geometry only; no wiring, terminal assignments for real products, electrical work or compliance claims.

Discuss a contribution

Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
