Wireless coverage record revisions for AI review

A coverage layer can describe a modeled result while a separate observation describes one test interval.

A coverage layer can describe a modeled result while a separate observation describes one test interval. FCC Broadband Data Collection materials explain coverage reporting context. A carrier can use a fictional coverage tile to test how an assistant distinguishes the sources. FCC broadband map guidance

Draw two abstract tiles. Give one a published practice revision and a separately dated synthetic check. Give the other a map value with no verified observation. Ask which statements are supported and what further record is required. Preserve technology, period, and observed versus modeled fields. The exercise does not assess service for real users.

Do not include network topology, user or device identifiers, test routes, security details, or live records. Use dummy shapes and invented values.

Describe a coverage evidence benchmark

Original Fiund exercise

A modeled tile and a single observed interval answer different questions

Two abstract coverage tiles use invented technology labels and values. The exercise distinguishes model revisions from limited observations without assessing real service availability.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
WC1Practice map revision M1Tile A modeled score 0.8 for technology T during period P. Tile B modeled score 0.7 for T/P.
WC2Published practice revision M2Tile A modeled score changes to 0.9 for T/P. No revision names B.
WC3Synthetic checkOne interval in Tile A, technology T, observation score 0.6 dated after P. No verified observation for B or whole-tile validation supplied.

Question for the model

What current modeled values are documented, and can the later interval check replace A's model or establish measured coverage for all of either tile?

Show the reference answer and checks

WC2 makes 0.9 the current modeled A value for T/P; B remains 0.7 under WC1. WC3 is a limited observation for A after P, not a replacement model or a whole-tile validation for the earlier period. It supplies no B observation. Report modeled and observed values with their technology, period and scope rather than calling either tile's real coverage verified.

  • Replacing a period-specific modeled value with a later point observation without preserving scope.
  • Treating a model value or one interval check as measured coverage throughout a tile.

Fields to preserve

Tile, technology and period
Defines comparable coverage records.
Modeled versus observed source
Distinguishes prediction from a limited check.
Revision and observation scope
Prevents an A-only change from affecting B or a whole region.

Test another case

Add a second check for another technology in the same tile. Require technology-specific interpretation rather than averaging unrelated measures.

Use dummy shapes and artificial values. Exclude network topology, users, device IDs, test routes, security information and live coverage records.

Discuss a contribution

Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project.
