An outing can be canceled and offered again without the original trip ever departing. The itinerary, booking, and operator’s confirmed departure are separate sources. Census defines these scenic categories, and FAA’s air tour resources illustrate the mode-specific context for one of them. The shared exercise is records reconciliation across a reschedule. Create an invented tour-bus departure, a harbor excursion, and an aerial outing with an alternate booking. Show which service was canceled and which actually departed. Link the replacement ticket to the original without counting both as completed. In one case, omit the departure confirmation. Ask the model to cite the status source rather than assume a reservation means the ride happened.
Avoid actual customer names, routes, locations, weather clearances, and operational records. Use aggregate practice data and keep safety and departure decisions with qualified staff.

Original Fiund exercise
An alternate booking does not make both the canceled and replacement outing completed
An original multimode fixture uses abstract bus, harbor and aerial-outing aliases. It contains no route, traveler, weather clearance, aircraft or actual departure decision.
| Record | Source | What it records |
|---|---|---|
| SST1 | Bus outing | Original trip B1 canceled. Replacement B2 booking explicitly linked to B1; operator confirms B2 departed. No B1 departure. |
| SST2 | Harbor outing | H1 has a booking and separate operator departure confirmation under the same ID. |
| SST3 | Aerial outing | A1 canceled, alternate A2 reservation supplied. No A2 departure confirmation; no shared-status rule across modes. |
Question for the model
Which outings have supported departure events, and how many can be counted without treating reservations or canceled originals as completed?
Show the reference answer and checks
SST1 supports B2's departure while B1 remains canceled. SST2 separately supports H1's departure. SST3 supports A2's replacement reservation but no departure, and A1 stays canceled. The fixture therefore has two documented departures, not all five named trip IDs. Preserve replacement links and mode-specific source states without treating a booking as proof of an outing or making a safety judgment from administrative records.
- Counting a canceled original and replacement as two completed outings.
- Promoting an alternate reservation to departure because another mode's packet includes confirmation.
Fields to preserve
- Outing ID and mode
- Defines the service.
- Cancellation and replacement parent
- Preserves the reschedule.
- Booking versus departure confirmation
- Supports the count.
Test another case
Add A2's cancellation and A3's new reservation without a departure. Require the confirmed-departure total to remain two.
Use fictional aggregate records. Exclude traveler, location and operational details; qualified staff retain departure and safety decisions.
Discuss a contribution
Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
