A cargo document can list a shipment total even though the handler has accepted only some of its pieces. TSA’s public air cargo roadmap describes industry and security responsibilities. GS1 event guidance provides a general reference for modeling custody. Use a fictional records exercise to test whether a model preserves the difference between piece receipt, shipment totals, and separate screening evidence. Invent three package IDs under one shipment and record only two confirmed handoffs. Give one piece a second scan representing an update rather than an additional package. Ask the assistant which pieces are verified and what evidence would close the gap. Supply the relevant fields as a fictional manifest and retain the adjudicated answer separately.

Use mock documents and approved props. Do not include security procedures, screening layouts, active schedules, customer information, or real cargo descriptions. Ask carriers and contractors who controls any records jointly produced.

Original Fiund exercise

A shipment's three listed pieces are not three confirmed handoffs

An original air-cargo document fixture uses inert package aliases and no real cargo, carrier schedule, customer or screening process.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
ACG1Fictional manifestShipment S lists packages P1, P2 and P3, total 3 pieces.
ACG2Handler eventsH1 confirms receipt of S/P1. H2 confirms S/P2. H2R explicitly updates H2's administrative label and retains P2 identity; no new piece.
ACG3Remaining evidenceP3 has planned handoff only, no receipt. No screening evidence supplied for any piece; receipt events make no screening statement.

Question for the model

Which distinct pieces have confirmed handler receipt, and what evidence is absent for P3 and any screening claim?

Show the reference answer and checks

ACG2 confirms two distinct received pieces, P1 and P2. H2R is an update to P2's existing event rather than a third piece. ACG1's three-piece shipment total and ACG3's plan do not confirm P3 receipt. The packet also supplies no separate screening evidence, so receipt must not be described as screening completion. Report the confirmed piece set and missing records without making any air-cargo security or release decision.

  • Counting an event update as another package or treating a manifest total as receipt.
  • Equating handler custody with separate screening evidence.

Fields to preserve

Shipment and piece ID
Defines unique objects.
Receipt event and update parent
Prevents duplicate counting.
Planned handoff and separate evidence type
Preserves the missing stages.

Test another case

Add a P3 receipt under another shipment S2. Require the shipment mismatch to remain instead of closing S's piece gap.

Use original mock records and approved props. Exclude layouts, procedures and active schedules; carrier and contractor rights require separate confirmation.
