A regulator can publish a license listing while an inspection applies to a different site or activity. Connecticut’s Department of Consumer Protection offers a public license verification service. An original exercise can test identity, scope and date without querying any live license. Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection license verification

Invent one business with two site records and a dated status change. Give one site a mock inspection entry and the other a renewal application. Ask which evidence supports current listing status for each site and identify the missing approval. Score establishment and activity scope separately.

Use fictional names and invalid identifiers. Exclude complaints, applicants, confidential findings and real addresses. Keep licensing and enforcement decisions with the regulator.

Describe a fictional regulatory records sample

Original Fiund exercise

A renewal application and an inspection cover different status evidence

One invented organization has two invalid site-license aliases. The task reports supplied records without determining anyone's real licensing, enforcement or business eligibility.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
RL1Practice listing snapshot day 10Site A/activity X listed active through day 20. Site B/activity Y listed expired day 8.
RL2Mock inspectionSite A/activity X reviewed on day 9; no reference to Site B or activity Y.
RL3Renewal applicationSite B/activity Y application received day 10. No renewal approval or changed listing supplied.

Question for the model

What listing status is documented for each site on day 10, and does the inspection or renewal receipt establish B's approval?

Show the reference answer and checks

RL1 documents A/X active and B/Y expired in the day-10 practice snapshot. RL2 concerns A/X only and cannot establish B/Y's inspection or status. RL3 records receipt of B's renewal application, not approval or a revised listing. Preserve site, activity and event type rather than treating organization identity, a related inspection or an application receipt as a renewed authorization.

  • Applying one site's inspection to another site or activity.
  • Changing an expired listing to approved from a renewal-application receipt alone.

Fields to preserve

Establishment and activity
Defines the exact regulated scope.
Snapshot date and validity
Dates the observed listing state.
Application versus approval evidence
Makes the pending authorization explicit.

Test another case

Supply B's renewal approval effective day 12. Require distinct day-10 and day-13 answers rather than retroactively updating the earlier snapshot.

Use fictitious organizations and nonvalid IDs. Exclude addresses, applicants, complaints and confidential findings; actual decisions remain with the regulator.
