An estimated amount due at closing can appear in a document before the escrow agent has evidence of receipt. Census lists real estate escrow agencies in this industry. CFPB closing materials provide context for the parties and documents. An escrow business can test evidence reconciliation with wholly fictional records. Census NAICS manual · CFPB closing disclosure explainer

Create two dummy closing packets. Give one an expected amount, an independently confirmed receipt, and a correction to a related line. Give the other only a planned contribution. Ask the model which cash movements the packet actually documents and what proof is missing. Keep role, timestamp and transaction alias in every record.

Use no bank or routing details, payment instructions, signatures, account records, property addresses, or actual settlement documents. The model never authorizes or initiates a transfer.

Describe an escrow evidence test

Original Fiund exercise

Expected funds and independently confirmed receipt are different records

Two fabricated closing packets use abstract units and role labels. The exercise contains no payment instructions or account data and never authorizes or initiates a transfer.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
EF1Packet C-A estimateExpected contribution 50 practice units. Related document line later corrected from 4 to 5 units, with no statement changing the contribution.
EF2Independent receiptAuthorized receiver confirms transaction alias T-A, 50 units, for C-A on day 7.
EF3Packet C-B planExpected contribution 40 units; message says transfer planned. No receipt or movement confirmation supplied.

Question for the model

Which cash movement is documented as received, and does the related line correction or planned C-B contribution establish any additional receipt?

Show the reference answer and checks

EF2 independently confirms receipt of 50 units for C-A under T-A. EF1's related line correction does not state a change to that contribution or document another movement. EF3 records an expectation and a plan for C-B, not receipt of 40 units. Keep expected amounts, document corrections and confirmed movements separate, with the receiver and transaction alias cited for the observed event.

  • Adding a document-line correction to confirmed cash movement without an explicit relationship.
  • Treating a planned transfer message as independent receipt evidence.

Fields to preserve

Closing packet and transaction alias
Connects each movement to the correct fictional case.
Expected versus received amount
Separates a document estimate from an event.
Receiver, timestamp and confirmation
Supplies the basis for a received-state claim.

Test another case

Provide a receipt for 30 of C-B's 40 expected units. Require a partial-receipt statement rather than either no funds or fully funded.

Use fictional records only. Exclude bank details, routing data, signatures, real settlement documents, property addresses and payment instructions.

Discuss a contribution

Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
