A distribution record can be corrected while earlier copies remain visible. FDA’s Drug Supply Chain Security Act resources explain drug product tracing. A fictional exercise can test whether a model identifies the current transaction record and the affected packages. FDA DSCSA product tracing resources

Invent an original shipment with three nonfunctional package IDs and a corrected transaction for one. Give a second correction to a different shipment. Ask which package and document are affected. Keep the reviewer’s answer focused on identity and provenance, not authorization for distribution.

Use empty props and fictional records. Exclude actual drugs, prescriptions, security information, customers, package IDs and trading partner records.

Original Fiund exercise

A transaction correction can change one package row without replacing every shipment item

Three empty props use original invalid aliases. This fixture has no drug, prescription, actual trading partner, trace record or distribution authorization.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
PWC1Original shipment S1Transaction T1 includes dummy packages A, B and C. Abstract description field X on B.
PWC2Linked correctionT1-R explicitly replaces B's field X with Y for S1/T1/B. A and C unchanged; no new package event.
PWC3Other correctionLater T2-R names shipment S2 and a locally reused B alias. No S1 relationship despite similar field text.

Question for the model

Which document and package field are current for S1, and can the later S2 correction affect it?

Show the reference answer and checks

PWC2 makes T1-R the linked correction for S1/B and replaces only X with Y, preserving A and C's original rows from PWC1. It does not create another package or authorize any distribution. PWC3 belongs to S2, so its local B alias and later date do not affect S1. Cite original and correction sources by shipment and package, keeping the unaffected rows and version history visible.

  • Applying a package-specific correction to the entire shipment.
  • Selecting a later correction from another shipment because a local package alias repeats.

Fields to preserve

Shipment, transaction and invalid package ID
Defines the target.
Correction parent and changed field
Preserves supersession scope.
Unaffected rows and other-shipment reference
Prevents cross-packet changes.

Test another case

Add a second S1 correction for C only. Require both B's prior change and C's independent change to remain current in their respective rows.

Use original empty props and fictional records. Exclude drugs, trading-partner details and valid codes; qualified staff retain distribution decisions.

Discuss a contribution

Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
