Pension plan amendment records for AI review

A plan amendment can be issued before it takes effect.

NAICS 525110 · Pension Funds

A plan amendment can be issued before it takes effect. An assistant summarizing a request needs to know the relevant plan period and which service records support it. The U.S. Department of Labor publishes materials about retirement plans and plan information. A pension fund can prepare a synthetic case focused on evidence selection. DOL retirement plan FAQs · DOL plan information

Create a fictional plan, two amendment dates, and an invented service-history extract. Ask which version the exercise says a reviewer should consult and whether the service evidence is complete. Add a case with one unexplained gap rather than a false zero. Keep issuance and effective dates separate in the answer key. The model does not calculate or award benefits.

Exclude real participant records, salaries, family details, identifiers, and confidential plan advice. Author an independent mock document and keep interpretation with plan staff.

Describe a pension document exercise

Original Fiund exercise

Amendment issuance and effectiveness select different review dates

A fictional retirement-plan packet has original version cards and an invented service timeline. It includes no participant, salary, beneficiary or actual benefit calculation.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
PA1Practice plan version ruleVersion A applies before day 30. Amendment B issued day 10, effective day 30, explicitly replaces A for requests dated day 30 onward.
PA2Request cardsRequest R1 dated day 20; request R2 dated day 35. Both concern the same invented plan, with no outcome decision supplied.
PA3Service extractService rows supplied for periods 1 and 3; period 2 marked missing source, not zero service. No approved gap resolution.

Question for the model

Which practice version should the reviewer consult for R1 and R2, and is the service evidence complete?

Show the reference answer and checks

PA1's explicit exercise rule selects A for PA2's day-20 R1, even though amendment B had already been issued. It selects B for day-35 R2 after B's effective date. PA3 leaves period 2 unsupported; a missing source is not a verified zero and prevents a complete service-history statement. Identify the proper version and evidence gap without calculating, interpreting or awarding a benefit.

  • Applying an amendment from its issuance date despite a later effective date.
  • Converting missing service evidence into a zero-valued history entry.

Fields to preserve

Request date and plan identity
Anchors the version selection.
Issue date, effective date and stated transition
Defines the fixture's rule.
Service period and source completeness
Preserves the unresolved history.

Test another case

Supply a reviewed period-2 card explicitly showing zero under the fictional rubric. Require the missingness finding to change only because new evidence is present.

Use original mock plan records. Exclude actual participant files and confidential advice; plan staff retain interpretation and benefit decisions.

Discuss a contribution

Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
