HUD explains certification labels for manufactured homes.

HUD explains certification labels for manufactured homes. A manufacturer can propose a focused document task around associating section identifiers and label records with the unit actually described. HUD manufactured-home labels

Create a fictional two-section home with original section drawings, an assembly ledger and clearly marked sample label references. Give each section its own identifier. Ask the assistant to identify which records belong to the complete unit and which reference is missing for one section. Add a shipping document for a similarly named unit, so a shared model name cannot establish identity.

Annotate unit, section, model revision, document status and source region. Hold out an unfamiliar numbering convention for evaluation. Score wrong-unit association and treating one section's record as evidence for both sections independently. The key should identify the missing relationship without inventing replacement labels or a compliance determination.

Use fictional label references and self-authored drawings. Real homeowner identities, serial records, licensed floor plans and inspection information require appropriate sharing authority. Describe the record-association task and independent review to prospective buyers. An accepted brief should define which historical documents and permitted uses justify preparation of a larger factory archive.

Original Fiund exercise

Keep section identity separate from a home identifier

Two paper rectangles represent sections of a fictional home. Labels are plainly marked SAMPLE with no real certification details.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
H1Assembly ledgerMock home M7 uses east section M7-E and west section M7-W.
H2Sample tag photoEast opening drawn beside legible M7-E tag.
H3Image noteThe west image crops out its tag location.
H4Folder nameBoth photos filed under M7.

Question for the model

Which section is visibly identified, and which still needs a tag view?

Show the reference answer and checks

The east section is visibly identified as M7-E by H2 and reconciles to the east entry in H1. The west section needs a legible view: H3 excludes the tag and H4 is only the shared home identifier, so it cannot verify M7-W.

  • Copying one section identifier across a two-section home
  • Treating a folder name as a physical label

Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project.
