A finish board can show several attractive options while the room schedule records which finish was approved. The Access Board’s guide to accessible routes illustrates why plans preserve information about the route and its clearances. A design team can test retrieval of room-specific evidence with an original project. U.S. Access Board accessible routes guide
Create two fictional rooms and three original color blocks. Assign a finish approval to just one room and add an alternative marked proposed. Ask which finish belongs in the approved schedule and where route information must come from. Give the reviewer a case with an intentionally missing plan dimension.
Use your own plan and sample art. Keep client addresses, photos, vendor agreements and copyrighted mood board assets out. Leave accessibility decisions with the design team.

Original Fiund exercise
A finish-board option and an approved room schedule are different sources
Two fictional rooms use original color blocks and an independently drawn plan. The example gives no actual accessibility, construction or client-design decision.
| Record | Source | What it records |
|---|---|---|
| INR1 | Original finish board | Options Blue, Green and Amber displayed; board labels them alternatives. |
| INR2 | Approved room schedule | Room A approved Blue. Room B Green proposed only; no approval recorded. |
| INR3 | Plan excerpt | Route R shown but width dimension missing. Finish board contains no route dimensions or clearance review. |
Question for the model
Which room finish has approval evidence, and can the attractive board or finish schedule establish B's approval or route clearance?
Show the reference answer and checks
INR2 supports Blue for Room A. It leaves Green for B as proposed, regardless of its presence on INR1's options board. INR3 lacks a route-width dimension, and neither a color board nor the finish schedule supplies that measurement or an accessibility review. Keep selection, approval and dimensional evidence distinct rather than treating an appealing option as accepted or deriving route compliance from finish records.
- Promoting an option on the finish board into an approved room selection.
- Inferring route dimensions or accessibility from a finish schedule without plan evidence.
Fields to preserve
- Room and finish-option identity
- Makes selections specific.
- Approval state and schedule version
- Separates proposed from accepted finishes.
- Plan dimension availability
- Preserves the unrelated measurement gap.
Test another case
Approve Green for B but leave the route dimension absent. Require the model to resolve the finish only and retain the separate plan-review question.
Use original plans and color art. Exclude addresses, client photos, vendor agreements and copyrighted mood boards.
Discuss a contribution
Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
