Inpatient behavioral health follow-up evidence for AI

A referral, booked appointment and completed follow-up represent different states.

A referral, booked appointment and completed follow-up represent different states. CMS’s Inpatient Psychiatric Facility Quality Reporting program provides quality measurement context. A facility can design a fictional event timeline without using any clinical records. CMS inpatient psychiatric reporting program

Write two invented timelines with separate event IDs. One has a booking acknowledgment but no visit evidence. The other has a mock completion record linked to a different encounter. Ask which timeline supports a completed follow-up. Require citations and a missing-evidence flag rather than an inference from the schedule.

Use no actual stays, diagnoses, treatment histories, health records or narratives. Have the privacy team assess any future real-data request, including special protections that may apply. HHS mental and behavioral health privacy resources

Describe a fictional follow-up records sample

Original Fiund exercise

A booked follow-up and another encounter's completion are different states

Two original fictional event timelines use inert encounter labels. They contain no stay, diagnosis, treatment narrative, person or clinical follow-up advice.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
BF1Timeline AEncounter E-A: referral R-A sent, appointment booking B-A acknowledged for day 8. No visit-completion event supplied.
BF2Timeline BEncounter E-B: follow-up completion C-B explicitly links to E-B and day 9. Its referral alias resembles R-A but differs.
BF3Summary draftDraft says E-A follow-up completed because B-A was acknowledged and C-B appears in the same export.

Question for the model

Which encounter has supported completion, and what is the most advanced documented state for E-A?

Show the reference answer and checks

BF2 explicitly documents completion for E-B. BF1 supports E-A's sent referral and acknowledged booking, without a completed visit. BF3 mixes a scheduling acknowledgment with another encounter's completion, so its E-A conclusion is unsupported. Preserve encounter-specific states and request an E-A-linked completion source before advancing it. The fixture establishes no clinical outcome, quality measure or real care status.

  • Treating an appointment booking as a completed follow-up.
  • Joining a completion from another encounter because its referral alias looks similar.

Fields to preserve

Encounter and referral IDs
Defines the timeline.
Booking versus completion event
Separates workflow states.
Source link and unresolved evidence
Limits the summary.

Test another case

Add an E-A cancellation after the booking. Require the timeline to record cancellation rather than infer completion from the original appointment date.

Use original abstract records only. Exclude actual stays, narratives and health data; privacy staff assess any separate real-data proposal.

Discuss a contribution

Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
