A heavy equipment attachment can share a family name with an earlier model while its supplier compatibility records differ. GS1 describes distinct trade item identifiers. An original model and mock shipment record can test whether software preserves the attachment revision. GS1 US product identifiers

Build two tabletop attachment mockups with different hole patterns and matching dummy tags. Film a measurement and attach a revised specification for one. Ask which option the record supports and where a match depends on checking the source.

Use no actual heavy equipment or live work areas. Keep site details, customer assets, manufacturer drawings and operational limits out. Leave attachment decisions with qualified staff.

Original Fiund exercise

A family name does not replace the hole pattern and attachment revision

Two lightweight tabletop attachment mockups use original hole-pattern drawings and invalid tags. No heavy equipment, powered work, real limits or installation instructions appear.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
HEW1Dummy specOption O2 for model M requires revision R2, abstract hole-pattern code P2. R1/P1 is a separate historical family variant.
HEW2Mockup AReadable R2 tag; reviewer confirms measured training pattern P2 against the revised original drawing.
HEW3Mockup BSame family display name, readable R1 tag and observed P1. Revised R2 specification attached to B's folder without an approval or tag correction.

Question for the model

Which mockup matches O2, and can the attached revised document make B an R2 attachment?

Show the reference answer and checks

HEW1 and HEW2 match A to O2 through R2 identity and the reviewed P2 pattern. HEW3 identifies B as R1/P1 despite the newer specification in its folder. That attachment does not transform B or establish equivalence. Record the measured pattern, visible tag and applicable document separately, leaving B's mismatch for review without recommending installation or claiming real equipment compatibility or operating limits.

  • Selecting an attachment from family name while ignoring geometry and revision.
  • Treating a newer document attached to a folder as proof the physical prop changed.

Fields to preserve

Model and attachment revision
Defines identity.
Hole-pattern label and measured view
Supports comparison.
Specification target and mismatch
Preserves the gap.

Test another case

Change B's observed pattern to P2 but retain R1 label. Require a label/geometry conflict rather than conclude the whole variant matches.

Use original inert mockups only. Exclude customer assets, manufacturer drawings and operating sites; qualified staff retain attachment decisions.
