A family may receive an itemized price list, an estimate and a later selection record. The FTC’s Funeral Rule guidance explains the importance of price lists and itemization. A funeral home can use original fictional materials to evaluate whether a model keeps those documents separate. FTC guidance on the Funeral Rule

Create two mock price list versions and one fictional estimate with an option that appeared only in the earlier version. Ask which amount the estimate actually shows and whether the package establishes an agreed selection. Include an answer key that marks unconfirmed items and cites their source.

Exclude decedent names, families, plans, grief conversations and real transactions. Use independent copy and fabricated fees. Keep human staff responsible for customer explanations and any compliance determination.

Original Fiund exercise

A quoted amount, a current list and an agreed selection are different records

Original fictional service labels and abstract fees form a document-comparison task. No decedent, family, grief conversation, real plan or consumer transaction is included.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
FUQ1Practice price list V1Option A 10 units; optional B 4 units.
FUQ2Price list V2 and estimateV2 changes A to 12 and B to 5. Earlier estimate E explicitly uses V1 and quotes A=10; B unselected.
FUQ3Selection fieldNo signed or approved selection record. A draft summary adds B and uses V2 total 17 without a referenced agreement.

Question for the model

What does estimate E actually quote, and can the newer list or draft total establish an agreed package selection?

Show the reference answer and checks

FUQ2 explicitly identifies E as a V1 estimate quoting A at 10 with B unselected. V2 separately lists A=12 and B=5, whose sum is 17 if both are included, but FUQ3 supplies no agreed selection of that combination. Preserve as-issued estimate, current list and unconfirmed options rather than rewriting E or treating an arithmetic draft total as an accepted package or compliance conclusion.

  • Replacing an estimate's historical amount with a later list without an amendment.
  • Adding an unselected option or treating a draft total as an agreed purchase.

Fields to preserve

List revision and estimate reference
Keeps quoted amounts tied to their source.
Optional-item selection state
Prevents assumed package components.
Agreement evidence availability
Separates a proposal from an accepted selection.

Test another case

Record approval of A under V2 only, with B still unselected. Require the supported amount and scope to follow that approval rather than the earlier estimate or combined draft.

Use independent fabricated fees and copy. Exclude families, decedents, real plans and transactions; actual customer explanations and compliance review stay with human staff.

Discuss a contribution

Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
