Farm management acreage revision data for AI

A revised field boundary can change area calculations without changing what was planted.

NAICS 115116 · Farm Management Services

A revised field boundary can change area calculations without changing what was planted. A crop correction can change the reported crop while leaving the geometry intact. USDA’s Farm Service Agency provides acreage-reporting materials. A management company can use fictional map revisions to see whether an assistant understands the difference. USDA FSA crop acreage reporting fact sheet

Sketch two invented parcels. Update the boundary on one and correct the crop label on the other. Show effective dates, units, an approval record, and a draft change that was never approved. Ask which version supports the crop and area as of a given day. Flag any answer that combines a new boundary with a superseded area figure. The exercise never files a report.

Do not share real coordinates, farm program identifiers, ownership documents, lender details, or private field history. Use abstract shapes and exercise-specific approvals.

Describe an acreage reconciliation test

Original Fiund exercise

A boundary update and a crop-label correction change different fields

Two abstract parcels have original revision cards and arbitrary area units. There are no geographic coordinates, farm-program identifiers or actual filings.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
AR1Initial cardsParcel A boundary v1 area 10 units, crop C. Parcel B boundary v1 area 8 units, crop D.
AR2Approved day-5 changesA boundary v2 area 11 units, crop C unchanged. B crop corrected to E, geometry v1 and area 8 unchanged. Both effective day 5.
AR3Draft day-6 noteProposes A crop F and area 12 but has no approval. Requested snapshot day 7.

Question for the model

Which area, crop and geometry combinations are supported for A and B on day 7?

Show the reference answer and checks

AR2 supplies A's approved boundary v2 with area 11 and unchanged crop C for day 7. It supplies B's corrected crop E while retaining boundary v1 and area eight. AR3 is an unapproved proposal and does not replace those fields. Keep each amendment's scope intact rather than pairing A's new geometry with its old area, or treating B's crop correction as a geometry change. The exercise files no acreage report.

  • Combining a revised boundary with a superseded area value.
  • Applying unapproved changes or changing geometry when only a crop label was corrected.

Fields to preserve

Parcel and geometry version
Defines the spatial record.
Area unit and crop label
Separates independent attributes.
Effective date, approval and changed fields
Limits the revision's scope.

Test another case

Ask for day 4. Require the original combinations from AR1, before either approved change takes effect.

Use abstract shapes and exercise-specific approvals. Exclude real boundaries, ownership, lender details and private field histories.

Discuss a contribution

Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
