A resource navigator can document that it supplied a referral while the receiving organization has yet to confirm assistance. ACF’s prevention resource guide provides context on connecting families with supports. A community organization can test documentation using an invented adult scenario. ACF prevention resource guide

Write an original directory for a fictional workshop and a transport resource. Provide a referral acknowledgment for the workshop but no participation record. Ask which referral events the documents support and what would show receipt of a service. Score the program, sender and status separately.

Use no family histories, contact details, income data, immigration information or support records. Keep eligibility and service decisions with authorized staff and exclude minors from any recording.

Describe a fictional resource navigation example

Original Fiund exercise

A referral acknowledgment does not establish that a service was received

An independently written adult-only resource-navigation scenario uses invented workshop and transport programs. No family history, income, immigration, contact or actual support record is represented.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
RN1Original directoryFictional workshop W and transport resource T are separate programs. Each has a distinct inert program ID.
RN2Referral recordNavigator sends referral R-W to W. Receiving office acknowledges R-W as received, with no registration or participation confirmation.
RN3Transport noteDraft proposes a T referral, never sent. A participation acknowledgment for W-old belongs to another exercise and has no R-W link.

Question for the model

Which referral events are documented, and what evidence would be needed before saying the adult participated or received transport?

Show the reference answer and checks

RN2 supports sending R-W and the workshop office's acknowledgment of that referral. It supplies no participation or service-receipt event. RN3 leaves T at an unsent draft and its W-old acknowledgment is unrelated. Report those separate program and workflow states, and request a correctly linked participation or transport-service record before describing a service as received. The fixture makes no eligibility or support-placement decision.

  • Treating acknowledgment of a referral as participation in the program.
  • Promoting an unsent draft or another exercise's acknowledgment into service evidence.

Fields to preserve

Program and referral ID
Defines the target.
Sender, receipt acknowledgment and event type
Separates stages.
Participation evidence and unresolved status
Limits the outcome claim.

Test another case

Add W registration without attendance confirmation. Require registration to resolve while participation remains unverified.

Use invented adults and original entries. Exclude minors and personal histories; authorized staff retain service and eligibility decisions.

Discuss a contribution

Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
