Curtain and linen manufacturing data for AI dimension review

Finished household textiles can have measurements taken before and after a care procedure.

Finished household textiles can have measurements taken before and after a care procedure. FTC's textile-labeling guidance covers product information, and Cotton Incorporated describes product-care evaluation. These sources provide context for an original measurement-history task. Prepare fictional curtain-panel dimensions, a sample care procedure and a later inspection sheet. Keep the same sample identifier through both measurements. Add a second panel with the same nominal size but no initial measurement. Ask the assistant to calculate only the changes supported by matched records and identify the missing baseline for the other panel.

Label length and width directions, units, procedure reference and sample identity separately. Supply the exercise's calculation rule. Evaluation can rotate the table and introduce a panel whose dimensions were corrected after transcription. Score reversed directions, wrong-sample pairing and use of the superseded entry independently.

Use original fabric designs and invented measurements. Actual customer patterns, care-test protocols and commissioned artwork may require separate permission. A licensing brief should explain whether the model is expected to retrieve evidence, calculate a change or inspect a physical sample. Establish that task with the buyer before preparing more production data.

Original Fiund exercise

Same curtain, separate axes

A fictional curtain panel is measured before and after the same staged care exercise. Figures are illustrative and cannot support a consumer care claim.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
L1Before sheetPanel P3 width 150 cm, drop 200 cm; measured laid flat.
L2After sheetPanel P3 width 147 cm, drop 192 cm; same laid-flat method.
L3Packaging drawingFinished hanging drop target 195 cm for a different style P8.
L4Calculation cardUse the pre-care dimension for the denominator on each axis.

Question for the model

Calculate the observed change for each axis and state its basis.

Show the reference answer and checks

P3 contracted 2% across its width ((150 − 147) ÷ 150) and 4% along its drop ((200 − 192) ÷ 200), using L1, L2 and L4. L3 is a design target for another style and supplies neither the baseline nor the pass criterion.

  • Using the post-care value as denominator
  • Swapping width and drop or borrowing the other style's target

Fields to preserve

panel_id
Pairs observations on the same specimen
axis
Keeps drop separate from width
conditioning_state
Prevents comparison across different measurement setups

Test another case

Provide a suspended after-measurement and a laid-flat before-measurement; require a method-mismatch flag instead of a shrinkage number.

The sample omits manufacturing specifications, care-label testing claims and customer orders.

Discuss a contribution

Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
