Copy shop copy master and job revision data for AI

A copy shop can test a model on a common duplication problem.

A copy shop can test a model on a common duplication problem. Production has two masters that look alike, but only one was approved for the current copy job. The Census classification identifies copy shops within business service centers. The sample below applies that workflow to original artwork and mock tickets. U.S. Census NAICS sector definitions

Create a two-sided event handout with a line of original copy that moves between versions. Pair the masters with an approval and a job ticket containing quantity and paper size. Include a second case where approval refers to a separate job identifier. Ask whether production has a matching sign-off and which version, size and sides the evidence specifies.

Use shop-created artwork, substitute names and invented billing references. Keep customer designs, artwork files and document comments out unless the relevant owner explicitly grants reuse rights.

Describe an original copy-master test

Original Fiund exercise

An approved master must match the copy job, side count and paper size

Two independently written event handouts and dummy job tickets form a copy-shop fixture. No customer artwork, billing information or actual production order appears.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
CP1Job J1 ticket100 copies, size S, two sides. Original handout masters V1 and V2 differ in one line of original text.
CP2Approval A1Explicitly approves J1/V2, size S, two sides. V1 is not the named production master.
CP3Second packetJob J2 requires size L, two sides. Attached approval names J3/V2, size L, one side; no J2 approval supplied.

Question for the model

Which master and production attributes are supported for J1, and does the second packet have a matching sign-off?

Show the reference answer and checks

CP1 and CP2 support J1's V2 master at size S with two sides and the ticket's 100-copy quantity. CP3's approval belongs to J3 and specifies one side, so it does not confirm J2's requested two-sided job despite the shared V2 label and size L. Keep job identity, master revision, size and sides as separate comparison fields rather than use visual similarity or a matching revision name as blanket approval.

  • Selecting a similar-looking obsolete master instead of the explicitly approved version.
  • Accepting a sign-off that matches size but conflicts on job and side count.

Fields to preserve

Job and master revision
Defines the approved source.
Paper size, sides and quantity
Preserves production attributes.
Approval target and mismatch
Supports the exact sign-off check.

Test another case

Add a J2 approval for size L and two sides but leave its master revision blank. Require the remaining version gap to stay open.

Use shop-created original artwork and dummy tickets. Exclude customer designs, comments and private artwork files without reuse rights.
