Telephone answering service callback handoff data for AI
An answering service can verify that a message was accepted into its queue even when the on-call team has yet to acknowledge it.

An answering service can verify that a message was accepted into its queue even when the on-call team has yet to acknowledge it. AWS offers conditional quality evaluations for contact center interactions. A switchboard exercise can test a related distinction in staged calls and dispatch logs. AWS Contact Lens evaluation forms
Record an adult actor requesting a nonurgent callback to a dummy number. Provide a scripted message summary, a queue timestamp and an independent acknowledgment event for one case. Leave the acknowledgment absent for a second case. Ask the model to preserve the requested callback window and mark the handoff as pending where applicable. Score the message summary and transfer status separately.
Use consenting adult actors and invented contact information. Review voice recording and downstream reuse terms separately. Keep live call audio, after-hours numbers and client scripts out of the export.
Describe a staged switchboard sample
Original Fiund exercise
Queue acceptance preserves a callback request while team acknowledgment is a later event
Adult actors use an original nonurgent script and an inert contact token. No real telephone number, live call, client script or actual callback is involved.
| Record | Source | What it records |
|---|---|---|
| AS1 | Scripted message A | Actor requests a nonurgent callback during practice window W, to inert token DEMO-NUM. Queue receipt Q-A confirms message accepted. |
| AS2 | Team acknowledgment | On-call role TEAM acknowledges Q-A and window W. No callback-completion event supplied. |
| AS3 | Scripted message B | Same requested window W, distinct queue Q-B. Queue accepts it, but no team acknowledgment; copy of A's acknowledgment still names Q-A. |
Question for the model
Which messages reached the queue and receiving team, and can either be described as a completed callback?
Show the reference answer and checks
AS1 and AS3 support queue acceptance of both messages. AS2 additionally supports the team's acknowledgment of A's Q-A and its requested window. B's Q-B lacks that acknowledgment, and the copied Q-A event cannot fill it. Neither packet supplies a completed callback. Preserve message content, requested window, queue state and team handoff separately rather than interpret an acknowledgment as contact already made.
- Treating message acceptance as receiving-team acknowledgment.
- Treating team acknowledgment as a completed callback or copying it across queue IDs.
Fields to preserve
- Message and queue ID
- Defines the handoff.
- Requested window and inert contact token
- Preserves the script accurately.
- Team acknowledgment and callback evidence
- Separates stages.
Test another case
Add a Q-B acknowledgment that changes the window without actor confirmation. Require the handoff to resolve while the requested-versus-recorded window conflict remains.
Use original scripts and consenting adults with voice reuse rights. Exclude real numbers and recordings; review text and audio permissions separately.
Discuss a contribution
Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project.
