Contract inventory count and recount records for AI
A client may ask a count service to reconcile a discrepancy when the export contains an original count, a duplicate and a later independent recount.

A client may ask a count service to reconcile a discrepancy when the export contains an original count, a duplicate and a later independent recount. The Census manual includes inventory taking services in this industry. An operator can show how to preserve the count unit, reason and source for each event. U.S. Census 2022 NAICS manual · GS1 EPCIS
Create a practice bin with dummy product labels. Record two counts, including one in units and another expressed in cases. Give a duplicate row the same event key and provide the case size for just one product. Ask which records can be reconciled and where conversion remains unsupported. Supply the observed count as an independent answer key.
Use dummy inventory and an original worksheet. Keep client shrinkage data, store layouts, product serials and live inventory exports out.

Original Fiund exercise
A duplicate event and an independent recount must be treated differently
An original count-service fixture uses empty bins and dummy product labels. There are no client exports, serials, shrinkage findings or store layouts.
| Record | Source | What it records |
|---|---|---|
| CI1 | Product A observations | Event E1 initial count 22 units appears twice with identical event key. Independent recount E2 records 3 cases, reviewed label says 8 units per case. |
| CI2 | Reviewer key | Owned practice bin A contains 24 inert units. E2 is a separate observed recount, not a replacement row inferred from timing. |
| CI3 | Product B | Initial 10 units; later 2 cases with no B case-size field. No independent unit recount supplied. |
Question for the model
Which A discrepancy can be reconciled, and what prevents a corresponding unit comparison for B?
Show the reference answer and checks
CI1's repeated E1 key is one initial 22-unit event, not two observations totaling 44. E2 independently converts three cases at eight units to 24, matching CI2's reviewer key and documenting a two-unit discrepancy from the initial count. CI3 lacks B's case size, so its two-case recount cannot be compared numerically with ten units. Preserve independent events and conversion gaps without inferring client shrinkage or a financial cause.
- Counting a duplicated event key as another observation.
- Borrowing another product's pack size or treating a recount discrepancy as proof of loss.
Fields to preserve
- Product and count-event key
- Distinguishes duplicate from independent event.
- Quantity, unit and product-specific case size
- Supports conversion.
- Reviewer ground truth and unresolved basis
- Makes reconciliation checkable.
Test another case
Add B's case size as five but leave recount approval absent. Require numerical agreement at ten while preserving the separate review-state gap.
Use owned dummy inventory and original worksheets. Exclude real layouts, product serials and client loss records.
