Vending machine slot and product substitution data for AI
A vending machine’s slot plan may still name an earlier item after restocking.

A vending machine’s slot plan may still name an earlier item after restocking. FDA publishes labeling resources for vending machine operators. A practice fixture can test whether software distinguishes the assigned and observed product. FDA vending machine labeling resources
Build a mock four-slot rack with generic packages. Record an approved substitution in one slot and a photo showing an unlabeled package in another. Ask which change is supported and where product identity needs confirmation. Score slot, image and inventory update separately.
Use nonfunctional props and original product cards. Exclude live machine locations, key or access details, payment logs and customer footage. Ask the operator and performers to approve reuse.

Original Fiund exercise
Approved plan, observed package and inventory update can disagree at one slot
A nonfunctional four-slot rack uses generic original packages. No live machine, location, lock detail, payment, customer footage or actual sales activity appears.
| Record | Source | What it records |
|---|---|---|
| VS1 | Mock slot plan | Slots 1–4 originally assigned A, B, C, D. Approved update changes slot 2 from B to E; other slots unchanged. |
| VS2 | Restock image annotation | Readable E in slot 2 matches approved substitution. Slot 3 shows an unlabeled prop; no visible C code. |
| VS3 | Inventory export | Original mock export still says slot 2=B and slot 3=C. No refresh event or independent slot-3 identity check supplied. |
Question for the model
Which substitution is supported, which record is stale for slot 2, and can slot 3's identity be confirmed?
Show the reference answer and checks
VS1 and VS2 support the approved and observed E substitution in slot two. VS3's B field is stale against that linked update and observation. Slot three remains assigned C in the plan and export, but its unlabeled observed prop cannot be identified as C from those intentions alone. Preserve assigned, observed and inventory-recorded states and request a slot-three check rather than infer every restocked item from the layout.
- Using a stale inventory row over a confirmed slot-specific substitution.
- Treating planned slot assignment as identification of an unlabeled observed package.
Fields to preserve
- Slot and plan revision
- Defines intended placement.
- Observed package label and visibility
- Supports physical identification.
- Inventory update state and exception
- Preserves stale records.
Test another case
Refresh the export to E for slot two while keeping slot three unlabeled. Require the first discrepancy to resolve independently of the second.
Use nonfunctional owned props and cleared performers. Exclude real machine access, payment logs and customer data.
