A return can appear under the same product name as a multipack while containing only one item. GS1’s packaging levels distinguish individual and higher-level trade items. A variety store can create a mock return-and-restock exercise. GS1 US packaging levels

Make a sealed practice three-pack and a loose prop. Give both similar labels. Add a dummy acceptance event and a stock adjustment at the wrong package level. Ask what inventory movement is supported and what record should be reviewed.

Use inert packages, original graphics and a fictional receipt. Exclude buyer records, real refunds, checkout systems and fraud rules. Obtain authority for any reused template.

Describe a fictional return and restock sample

Original Fiund exercise

Returning one accepted item does not restore a sealed three-pack to stock

An original variety-store fixture uses one sealed empty multipack and one loose prop. There is no buyer, actual return, refund, checkout system or fraud procedure.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
MP1Packaging mapCode UNIT-A represents one prop. Code PACK-A represents a sealed pack of three UNIT-A items. Shared display name only.
MP2Acceptance eventMock return R accepts one loose UNIT-A, condition reviewed for the exercise. No sealed PACK-A returned.
MP3Stock adjustmentDraft adds +1 PACK-A from R. No repack event or approved pack-level conversion supplied.

Question for the model

Which inventory movement is supported, and why does the draft overstate sealed-pack stock?

Show the reference answer and checks

MP2 supports one accepted loose UNIT-A under R. MP1 distinguishes that level from a sealed PACK-A containing three units. MP3's +1 PACK-A would add a sealed package not documented by the event; no repacking or conversion record exists. Record the one-unit movement and flag the draft's packaging-level mismatch without inferring a real refund, resellability or consumer outcome from the acceptance card.

  • Matching the shared name while ignoring package level.
  • Restoring a sealed multipack after a loose-item return without assembly evidence.

Fields to preserve

Item and package-level code
Defines the inventory unit.
Accepted quantity and condition source
Supports the event.
Adjustment level and repack evidence
Identifies the mismatch.

Test another case

Add three independent unit returns but no approved repack. Require three loose units, not automatic creation of one sealed pack.

Use original graphics and inert props. Exclude buyer data, real refunds and checkout records.

Discuss a contribution

Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
