Shoe retailer pair, width and size-system records for AI
Two shoe boxes can show the same numeric size while using different size systems or widths.
NAICS 458210 · Shoe Retailers
Two shoe boxes can show the same numeric size while using different size systems or widths. GS1 describes identification of trade items, including distinct variants. A retailer can make an original test of whether software keeps the complete variant attached to the pair. GS1 US product identifiers
Stage two generic pairs with original size and width cards. Place one prop from another pair inside the box and include a conversion table that applies to a different brand in the exercise. Ask which labels support a pair match and where conversion is unverified.
Use original props and no actual fit profiles, shopper images or retail orders. Keep fitting and product recommendations outside the dataset.

Identical size numerals can hide different systems, widths and pair IDs
Two original generic shoe pairs use invented sizing systems and dummy labels. No real fit profile, shopper, order or footwear recommendation appears.
| Record | Source | What it records |
|---|---|---|
| SPZ1 | Box A label | Pair PA, size 8 in practice system SYS-A, width W1. Both props must carry PA under the original exercise rule. |
| SPZ2 | Observed pair | Left prop reads PA/8/SYS-A/W1. Right prop reads PB/8/SYS-B/W2. Numeral matches but pair, system and width differ. |
| SPZ3 | Conversion table | Illustrative SYS-B-to-SYS-A table applies to unrelated mock brand Z only. No authorized conversion or same-pair evidence for PA/PB. |
Question for the model
Which prop matches Box A, and can the other prop be accepted from its size numeral or the unrelated conversion table?
Show the reference answer and checks
SPZ1 and SPZ2 match only the left PA prop to Box A's complete variant. The right PB prop shares numeral eight but differs in pair ID, sizing system and width. SPZ3's brand-Z table cannot establish a valid conversion for these props and would not resolve the pair-ID mismatch anyway. Preserve all variant fields and request the correct matching piece rather than infer actual fit or recommend footwear.
- Matching size numerals across systems while dropping width and pair identity.
- Applying a conversion table outside its brand scope or assuming conversion repairs a mixed pair.
Fields to preserve
- Box and left/right pair ID
- Defines pair integrity.
- Size numeral, system and width
- Separates size attributes.
- Conversion scope and mismatched piece
- Limits the match.
Test another case
Make the right prop match size system and width but retain PB. Require the pair mismatch to remain despite equivalent dimensions.
Use original props and labels. Exclude customer profiles and actual retail orders; no fit advice is given.
