INDUSTRY FIELD GUIDE
Luggage retailer size, component and material data for AI
A listing can show a case dimension while a different measurement includes handles and wheels.
NAICS 458320 · Luggage and Leather Goods Retailers
A listing can show a case dimension while a different measurement includes handles and wheels. FTC’s Leather Guides address material representations for covered products. A retailer can build an original comparison that keeps the measurement basis and material description attached to the right variant. FTC Leather Guides
Make two dummy case diagrams and list measurements using two different bases. Attach a sample material tag to one and a mismatched catalog entry to the other. Ask what the evidence supports and which dimension needs verification. Score component, model and units separately.
Use original artwork and exclude customer details, supplier contracts and branded catalog imagery. Keep travel acceptance claims outside the exercise.
Describe a fictional luggage catalog exercise
Original Fiund exercise
Body-only dimensions differ from overall dimensions including wheels and handles
Two original case diagrams use fictional model IDs and synthetic dimensions. They establish no real material, carrier allowance, customer order or travel acceptance.
| Record | Source | What it records |
|---|---|---|
| LGG1 | Case A | Model L-A body height 50 cm; overall height with fixed wheels and handle 56 cm. Matched original material tag code M1. |
| LGG2 | Case B | Model L-B listing gives 50 cm without measurement basis. Attached material card names L-A/M1; no exact B material source. |
| LGG3 | Request | Compare overall height for both cases. No operator size limit or missing-B measurement supplied. |
Question for the model
Which height answers the overall-dimension question, and what evidence is missing for B's dimension and material?
Show the reference answer and checks
LGG1's 56 cm includes wheels and handle and answers A's overall-height question; its 50 cm refers to the body alone. LGG2's unlabeled 50 cm cannot be assumed overall merely because it matches A's body number. The attached L-A material card also cannot establish B's material. Request B-specific measurement basis and tag, and avoid any carrier acceptance conclusion from this original comparison fixture.
- Using body-only height for an overall-dimension request.
- Copying a material tag across case variants or treating equal numbers as equal measurement scope.
Fields to preserve
- Case model and component coverage
- Defines the dimension.
- Measurement value, unit and basis
- Supports comparison.
- Material tag identity and missing fields
- Limits attribution.
Test another case
Supply B's 50 cm as body-only and a separate overall 55 cm. Require a valid overall comparison without transferring A's material tag.
Use original diagrams and dummy cards. Exclude branded catalogs and private terms; no travel acceptance or real material claim is made.
