Shellfish fishing trip revisions for AI reconciliation
A corrected trip report can replace a prior record.
NAICS 114112 · Shellfish Fishing
A corrected trip report can replace a prior record. Adding both versions would double-count part of a landing. NOAA provides an electronic vessel trip reporting example for commercial lobster and Jonah crab. A fishing operation can recreate the revision logic with invented reports and independently written questions. NOAA lobster and Jonah crab trip reporting instructions · NOAA eVTR FAQs
Invent two completed trips and a documented amendment that changes a field for one of them. Include a saved draft with a later timestamp that has never been accepted. Ask the assistant to cite which record it used and show which line was replaced. Add one genuinely separate trip to test whether it can distinguish a duplicate from a new record. Keep reporting and compliance decisions outside the evaluation.
Use clearly fictional permits and locations. Keep real effort, fishing grounds, vessel names, dealer records, and landing volumes private. Ask who can authorize any third-party export.
Describe the trip-record evaluation
Original Fiund exercise
An accepted trip amendment replaces its original line while a saved draft does not
Three imaginary trips use invalid reporting aliases and arbitrary quantity units. No vessel, permit, location, fishing effort or actual reporting action is involved.
| Record | Source | What it records |
|---|---|---|
| TV1 | Accepted records | Trip T1 quantity 10; trip T2 quantity 20. Distinct accepted mock report IDs. |
| TV2 | Accepted amendment | T1-A explicitly supersedes T1's quantity line with 12. Does not create a new trip. |
| TV3 | Later files | Saved draft proposes T1 quantity 15, never accepted. Separate accepted trip T3 has quantity 5 and its own identity. |
Question for the model
Which accepted quantities belong in the current practice total, and how should the later draft be treated?
Show the reference answer and checks
TV2 replaces T1's ten with 12, while TV1's T2 remains 20 and TV3's distinct accepted T3 adds five, giving 37 practice units across three trips. Do not add original and amended T1 as separate trips. TV3's later draft proposing 15 has no acceptance and does not supersede the accepted amendment. Cite the accepted versions and retain the draft as an unactivated proposal.
- Double-counting an original report and its amendment.
- Using a later saved file as the accepted version solely because its timestamp is newer.
Fields to preserve
- Trip and accepted-report alias
- Defines unique activity.
- Amendment target and replaced line
- Supports the current version.
- Draft status and quantity unit
- Separates proposals from accepted records.
Test another case
Mark the 15-unit version accepted with an explicit T1-A supersession. Require a revised total of 40 with the same three distinct trips.
Use independently authored fictitious reports. Exclude grounds, vessels, dealers and real volumes; authorized staff retain reporting and compliance decisions.
Discuss a contribution
Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
