Savings account rate-history records for AI evaluation

A savings product’s advertised rate today may differ from the rate in force for an earlier statement period.

A savings product’s advertised rate today may differ from the rate in force for an earlier statement period. The CFPB’s Regulation DD materials provide public context for deposit account disclosures. A savings institution can use a synthetic packet to test whether a model finds the dated disclosure that belongs to a given product and period. CFPB Regulation DD

Invent two savings products with similar names, a rate notice with an effective date, and three mock statement periods. Include an advertisement that mentions a different product and a change effective after the period in question. Ask the assistant to cite the version that applies under the exercise and to flag conflicting records. Keep rate, annual percentage yield, and reported interest as separately labeled fields.

Keep depositor information, active pricing strategy, account details, private marketing lists, and platform controls out of the packet. This sample tests records and dates. Authorized staff retain customer and account decisions.

Original Fiund exercise

A later advertised yield cannot overwrite an earlier product disclosure

Two fictional savings products have synthetic dated rate fields. The exercise does not calculate customer interest, describe a current offer or recommend an account.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
SH1Product S disclosureFrom days 1–19: annual interest-rate field 1.00%, APY field 1.01%. From day 20: rate 1.20%, APY 1.21%. Figures invented.
SH2Statement cardProduct S, period days 5–15, reported interest 3 practice units. No balance history or calculation basis supplied.
SH3AdvertisementPublished day 12 for different product S-Plus, APY 2.00%. No link changing Product S's disclosure.

Question for the model

Which dated rate and APY fields match S's statement period, and can the advertisement or later notice explain its reported interest?

Show the reference answer and checks

SH1's days-1–19 disclosure matches SH2's days-5–15 period, supporting the fictional 1.00% rate and 1.01% APY fields. The day-20 change starts afterward, and SH3 advertises a different product. Neither replaces that historical S disclosure. SH2 lacks balance and calculation details, so its three-unit reported interest cannot be independently verified from these fields alone. Keep rate, APY and posted interest distinct.

  • Using a current advertisement for a different product to describe a historical statement period.
  • Treating rate, APY and reported interest as interchangeable values or sufficient calculation inputs.

Fields to preserve

Product and disclosure interval
Defines historical applicability.
Rate versus APY label
Preserves the meaning of each percentage.
Statement period and calculation evidence
Separates reported output from verification inputs.

Test another case

Extend the statement through day 25. Require both disclosure intervals to be identified and the calculation evidence gap to remain open.

Use fictional products and original cards. Exclude depositor data, active pricing plans and account decisions.
