Plastic film and sheet data for AI thickness-map review

NIST publishes polymer reference-material information.

NIST publishes polymer reference-material information. A sheet producer can define an original task that connects a thickness observation to the exact material, position and measurement basis recorded in the exercise. NIST polymer reference-material context

Create a fictional parent-roll map, sample locations and a laboratory table. Take measurements at several positions but leave one result without a location reference. Ask the assistant which observations belong to the requested strip. Include a nominal product thickness beside an actual sample measurement and a result from a different roll with the same grade name.

Annotate roll, cross-roll position, specimen, property, unit and source scope. Hold out a new map arrangement for evaluation. Score a nominal value used as an observation, wrong-roll association and unsupported location matching independently. The review key should preserve the difference between a local sample and an unmeasured region rather than fill the map with a plausible uniform value.

Use original diagrams and invented measurements, with no production testing required. Customer material specifications, proprietary process records and laboratory documents need disclosure authority. A licensing brief should identify the position-association task and checked examples. Confirm the buyer's accepted measurement context and source history before preparing a larger archive or additional capture.

A roll average hides one mapped sample

A paper roll map and invented lab readings support a position-level comparison.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
1Roll mapSample A taken 15 mm from left edge; sample B from centerline.
2Lab tableA: 0.46 mm; B: 0.54 mm, same method.
3Review noteReport edge and center individually; no limit supplied.

Question for the model

What should appear in a roll profile?

Show the reference answer and checks

Plot 0.46 mm at A's 15 mm edge offset and 0.54 mm at the centerline for B using records 1 and 2. The 0.50 mm pair average would lose the positional difference. Record 3 does not support a passing or failing grade.

  • Replacing position-level values with a mean
  • Reading image-left as the named roll edge after a flip

Fields to preserve

cross_web_offset
Locates each coupon
edge_reference
Preserves side through rotation
measurement_method
Keeps values on a comparable basis

Test another case

Add a mirrored sample map and require orienting its labeled roll edge before interpreting the offset.

No real extrusion settings, tolerances, customer rolls or release decisions.

Discuss a contribution

Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
