Open-end fund reporting snapshots for AI review

Two funds under one brand can file separate reports.

Two funds under one brand can file separate reports. A model comparing holdings must select the right series and period. The SEC publishes structured Form N-PORT datasets that provide a public reference for reporting fields and filing context. A fund can build a fully synthetic version where expected differences are known. SEC Form N-PORT datasets

Invent two fund series, two periods, and one amended record. Ask the assistant which holdings belong to each series and which rows an amendment replaces. Include a field that changes units between mock records. Have a reviewer calculate expected totals and score period, series, source and unit checks separately.

Use fictional positions and issuers. Keep unreleased holdings, investor records, investment strategies, internal valuation, and third-party feed data private. If referencing public filings, review embedded third-party rights before reuse.

Describe a fund snapshot benchmark

Original Fiund exercise

A series-specific amendment replaces one holding snapshot

Two fictional fund series hold imaginary instruments in a fully synthetic reporting fixture. No real investor, issuer, portfolio strategy or unreleased holding is represented.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
NP1Series A, period P1Original snapshot: asset X=2 thousand units, asset Y=3 thousand units; total 5 thousand.
NP2A/P1 amendment and next periodAmendment explicitly replaces only A/P1 X with 2,500 units; Y unchanged. A/P2 separately lists X=4 thousand and Y=1 thousand.
NP3Series B/P1Asset X=7 thousand units. Same umbrella brand as A but separate series ID; no amendment link.

Question for the model

What is A's amended P1 total in units, and which other rows must stay outside that reconstruction?

Show the reference answer and checks

NP2 replaces A/P1's X with 2,500 units. NP1's unaffected Y remains 3,000 units, so the amended A/P1 total is 5,500 units. A/P2 is another period, and NP3 is another series; neither belongs in that total. Preserve the amendment's target and convert thousands explicitly rather than adding 2,500 to an unconverted 3 or counting original and amended X twice.

  • Combining holdings under one brand while ignoring series and period identifiers.
  • Summing original and amended rows or mixing units with thousands of units.

Fields to preserve

Series and reporting period
Defines the snapshot.
Asset reference and amendment target
Limits replacement to the correct row.
Value unit and normalized total
Makes reconstruction reproducible.

Test another case

Add a Series B/P1 amendment with identical asset labels. Require A's reconstructed total to remain unchanged.

Use fictitious assets and original rows. Exclude investor records, strategies, internal valuations and market-feed data.
