An advisor can teach a model to distinguish variance against an original schedule from variance against an approved revision. GAO publishes schedule assessment practices. Scale AI lists business and professional services in its program for real operational records. Confirm the current sourcing scope and who can authorize those records. GAO Schedule Assessment Guide · Scale Data Partnerships

Write a fictional project with a milestone planned for day 20, an approved baseline change to day 23 and actual completion on day 25. Include an unsigned proposal for day 26. Ask for the variance against each approved baseline and citations for each date.

Exclude real performance reviews, client plans, fees and staffing decisions. Use your own project records for the example and verify rights to every source if pursuing a real dataset.

Describe a project baseline evaluation

Original Fiund exercise

Report variance against the original and approved revised baselines separately

An independently authored project timeline uses artificial milestone days. It contains no client performance review, staffing decision, fee or real project plan.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
MCB1Original practice baselineMilestone M planned day 20.
MCB2Approved baseline revision B2M planned day 23, explicitly replacing the current baseline date while retaining B1 history.
MCB3Completion and draftActual M complete day 25. Unsigned proposal B3 suggests day 26; no approval.

Question for the model

What schedule variances are supported against the original and approved current baselines, and can the unsigned proposal make M early?

Show the reference answer and checks

MCB3's actual day 25 is five days after MCB1's original day 20 and two days after MCB2's approved revised day 23. Both comparisons are supported when their baseline labels are preserved. The day-26 proposal would make the arithmetic look early, but it lacks approval and is not the current baseline. Report the original and revised variances without selecting a convenient unapproved reference.

  • Reporting a variance without naming which baseline it uses.
  • Using an unsigned later proposal to recast a late milestone as early.

Fields to preserve

Milestone and baseline version
Defines the comparison target.
Approval and planned date
Separates authorized revision from proposal.
Actual completion source
Makes each variance reproducible.

Test another case

Approve a revision affecting another milestone only. Require M's baseline to remain day 23 despite the newer project-file date.

Use original fictional timelines. Exclude client plans, fees, performance reviews and staffing records.

Discuss a contribution

Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
