International affairs agreement status and public action data for AI
An international agreement can have separate signature, deposit and entry-into-force dates.
NAICS 928120 · International Affairs
An international agreement can have separate signature, deposit and entry-into-force dates. The United Nations Treaty Handbook describes treaty actions and entry into force. An original exercise can test how a model links public actions to the correct instrument. United Nations Treaty Handbook
Write a fictional agreement with an effective-date rule and two mock public notices. Give one notice a deposit action and the second a different agreement identifier. Ask what date the correct evidence supports and what remains unresolved. Score action, instrument and source independently.
Use independently authored texts or expressly reusable public material. Keep cables, negotiations, personal details and protected communications out. Leave legal interpretations with the responsible office.
Describe a fictional agreement status exercise
Original Fiund exercise
A signature and a deposit are different instrument-specific actions
An imaginary agreement has an independently written effectivity rule. The exercise is arithmetic and source matching, not an interpretation of any real treaty.
| Record | Source | What it records |
|---|---|---|
| IA1 | Practice instrument T1 rule | T1 takes effect 10 calendar days after its named deposit action. Signature alone is not the trigger in this exercise. |
| IA2 | T1 notices | T1 signed day 2; verified deposit notice names T1 and day 8. |
| IA3 | Other instrument notice | T2 deposit day 5. No amendment makes T2's action apply to T1. |
Question for the model
Which action and day support T1's exercise effective date, and can signature or T2's earlier deposit change it?
Show the reference answer and checks
IA1 selects T1's deposit action as the trigger, and IA2 verifies that action on day 8. Adding ten calendar days gives day 18 under the supplied rule. T1's day-2 signature is a different action, and IA3 concerns another instrument. Neither supports an earlier T1 date. Cite the instrument, action and rule together while leaving actual international-law interpretation outside this fictional task.
- Calculating from signature when the stated rule requires deposit.
- Using another agreement's earlier deposit because its notice has similar wording.
Fields to preserve
- Instrument identifier
- Keeps notices tied to their own agreement.
- Action type and verified date
- Defines the correct trigger.
- Effective-date rule
- Makes the practice calculation reproducible.
Test another case
Change T1's rule to require two named deposits and provide only one. Require an unresolved trigger rather than using the single-deposit arithmetic from this case.
Use original fictional notices and rules. Exclude cables, negotiations, personal information and protected communications; real interpretation stays with the responsible office.
Discuss a contribution
Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
