Gypsum lot and shipment reporting data for AI

A shipment record can show what left a site without identifying all material recorded for the period.

A shipment record can show what left a site without identifying all material recorded for the period. USGS publishes gypsum statistics and commodity information. A nonmetallic minerals operator can test whether an assistant reports the right level of evidence using artificial values and two independent sources. USGS gypsum statistics and information

Invent a report with a production summary and two outbound records. Mark one shipment as linked to an individual lot, and leave the other represented only in a combined total. Ask which quantity can be attributed, what the totals cover, and which record would be needed for a stronger claim.

Keep production, pricing, customer records, operating methods, site locations and equipment details private. Use a synthetic example with no shipping or operational decision.

Describe a shipment reporting sample

Original Fiund exercise

A period shipment total cannot be allocated to an unnamed lot

A fictional gypsum ledger uses practice mass units. It distinguishes period production from outbound shipments and deliberately leaves one shipment's lot identity unresolved.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
GY1Monthly summaryPeriod M records 30 practice units produced and 18 outbound.
GY2Outbound ticket OUT-17 units shipped from lot G-A during M.
GY3Outbound ticket OUT-211 units shipped during M; lot identity absent. No opening or closing inventory is supplied.

Question for the model

How much outbound material is directly linked to G-A, and can the packet establish G-A's total production or ending inventory?

Show the reference answer and checks

GY2 directly links 7 outbound units to G-A. GY1 and GY3 reconcile the period's total outbound quantity as 7+11=18, but the unassigned 11 cannot be attributed to G-A. The 30-unit production summary covers period M rather than that lot. Without lot-level production and inventory records, G-A's total production and ending balance remain unknown.

  • Assigning all period production or both outbound tickets to the only named lot.
  • Calling production minus shipments the ending inventory despite missing opening stock and lot scope.

Fields to preserve

Reporting period and quantity type
Separates production from outbound movement.
Ticket-to-lot link
Identifies the amount actually attributable to G-A.
Unassigned shipment quantity
Preserves a gap instead of forcing a lot match.
Inventory coverage
Shows what additional records a balance calculation would need.

Test another case

Provide a corrected OUT-2 assigning it to G-B and an opening balance for G-A, but no G-A production record. Require the system to update attribution while still declining to calculate an unsupported closing balance.

Use invented summaries and quantities. Exclude real production volumes, customers, shipment destinations, prices, operating methods and site information.
