Garden center plant tray and variety label data for AI
Several nursery trays can look alike while their variety labels and receiving records differ.

Several nursery trays can look alike while their variety labels and receiving records differ. USDA APHIS provides plant health and movement resources. A retailer can build a label attribution task with benign owned plants or nonliving props. USDA APHIS plant imports and exports
Stage two trays with invented codes and a delivery manifest. Place a loose variety tag beside the wrong tray in one take. Ask which identification the linked record supports and which tray needs a new label check. Have a reviewer score tray identity and source rather than inferring variety from appearance.
Use original labels, footage and consenting staff. Exclude live grower records, proprietary cultivar artwork, customer orders and any regulated plant material from the sample.

Original Fiund exercise
A loose variety tag beside a tray does not establish its identity
Two benign owned tray props have original inert labels and an invented delivery manifest. There are no live grower records, regulated plant materials, customer orders or proprietary cultivar art.
| Record | Source | What it records |
|---|---|---|
| GTR1 | Mock manifest | Tray T1 links to variety V1; tray T2 links to V2. Both trays have similar visible foliage shapes in this exercise. |
| GTR2 | Receiving observation A | Attached readable tray ID T1 matches the manifest. Loose V2 tag appears on the bench beside T1, with no attachment or correction record. |
| GTR3 | Receiving observation B | Second tray's attached ID partly obscured. Loose tag V1 nearby, no reviewed T2 link or valid replacement label. |
Question for the model
Which variety association has a matched tray record, and can either loose tag resolve the other tray's identity?
Show the reference answer and checks
GTR1 and GTR2 match the attached T1 identity to the manifest's V1 association. The nearby loose V2 tag does not override that link. GTR3 lacks a readable attached ID and cannot use proximity of loose V1 as proof that the second tray is T2 or V1. Request a matched tray view or receiving record, keeping manifest association separate from direct botanical identification or any movement compliance claim.
- Assigning a loose tag to the nearest tray without attachment evidence.
- Inferring variety from similar foliage or completing an obscured tray ID from expectation.
Fields to preserve
- Attached tray identifier
- Defines the physical object.
- Manifest variety and receipt reference
- Supports documented identity.
- Loose tag and visibility state
- Preserves uncertainty.
Test another case
Add a readable T2 ID and a conflicting attached V1 tag. Require the manifest-versus-tag discrepancy to be reported rather than silently favor one.
Use original labels, owned props and consented staff. Exclude actual nursery files and regulated plant material.
