A published notice can say that a trading halt is still in effect while naming a possible resumption time. Nasdaq Trader publishes halt codes and current notices. A synthetic event timeline can test how an AI assistant summarizes what was reported at a past time. Nasdaq Trader halt codes · Nasdaq Trader public halt list

Create a fictional symbol with a halt, a provisional update, and a later confirmed event. Give another symbol a similar name and a different reason. Ask which statements the model can cite as of a specified time and which are still forecasts. Keep publication time, effective time, status and record source separate. Test one scenario with no resumption confirmation.

Use no live feed, internal control messages, access details, real trade decisions, or feed data without reuse rights. The output is an offline historical summary.

Describe a halt event benchmark

Original Fiund exercise

An expected resumption time is not a confirmed resumption event

A fictional symbol on an imaginary venue has synthetic timestamped notices. No live market data, trading system or real investment decision is involved.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
EH1Halt noticeSymbol DEMO-A: halt effective 09:00, notice published 09:01; status halted.
EH2Provisional updatePublished 09:10 for DEMO-A: possible resumption 09:30, confirmation pending. DEMO-B has a separate confirmed 09:20 event.
EH3Later confirmationDEMO-A resumption effective 09:35, confirmation published 09:36.

Question for the model

What can an as-of-09:25 summary say about DEMO-A, and what changes once the 09:36 publication is available?

Show the reference answer and checks

At 09:25, EH1 establishes DEMO-A's halt and EH2 gives only a possible 09:30 resumption awaiting confirmation. DEMO-B's confirmed event belongs to another symbol. After 09:36, EH3 supports DEMO-A's actual reported resumption at 09:35. Preserve publication time separately from effective event time so the later confirmation cannot leak into the earlier as-of summary or turn the provisional estimate into an observed event.

  • Reporting an expected future time as a completed event.
  • Using a similar symbol's confirmation or a later publication in an earlier information set.

Fields to preserve

Symbol and notice source
Prevents cross-symbol association.
Publication and effective timestamps
Defines what was knowable at each cutoff.
Status and confirmation qualifier
Distinguishes a proposal from a reported event.

Test another case

Remove EH3. Require the later summary to preserve uncertainty rather than infer resumption simply because 09:30 has passed.

Use original offline notices. Exclude licensed feeds, internal controls and real trading instructions; this is a historical-summary exercise.
