Electrical test instrument data for AI probe and channel records

NIST provides measurement-traceability guidance.

NAICS 334515 · Instrument Manufacturing for Measuring and Testing Electricity and Electrical Signals

NIST provides measurement-traceability guidance. An instrument manufacturer can define an original record task that keeps a channel observation linked to the probe and reference convention actually documented. NIST traceability context

Write fictional instrument and probe references, a connection map and observation tables. Give two channels different explicit exercise conventions. Ask which observation answers the request. Include a probe replaced after the selected test and a table missing its channel label. The key should preserve the original configuration and request the missing association.

Annotate instrument, channel, probe, convention, unit, date and source record. Hold out a new table layout for evaluation. Score wrong-channel selection, replacement-probe information applied to an earlier test and unsupported convention assumptions independently. Supply any calculation rule and inputs needed for the exercise.

Use self-authored documents and invented readings without energizing equipment. Customer circuits, licensed methods, proprietary firmware and outside calibration reports require permission and qualified review. A licensing brief should identify the probe-context task and checked examples. Establish the buyer's required evidence before preparing commercial archives or commissioning capture.

Original Fiund exercise

An instrument observation inherits its attached probe context

Invented instrument and probe IDs support a comparability exercise. Values are arbitrary and nonoperational.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
1RequestCompare instrument M3 using probe P2 and method Z.
2Observation 1M3/P2, method Z, index 12.
3Observation 2M3/P4, method Z, index 15; no cross-probe conversion given.

Question for the model

Which observation matches and what can be compared?

Show the reference answer and checks

Observation 1 is the exact match to record 1. Observation 2 can be stored for P4 but cannot be used to infer a P2 change because record 3 supplies no conversion or equivalent-probe evidence. Keep method and probe identity separate.

  • Ignoring the probe after matching instrument and method
  • Inventing a cross-probe conversion

Fields to preserve

instrument_serial
Identifies the base unit
probe_id
Scopes the capture context
method_key
Preserves the comparison basis

Test another case

Use a documented probe swap between two observations with the same file name; match each timestamp to its installed probe.

No actual electrical readings, energized testing instructions, calibration procedures or safety claims.

Discuss a contribution

Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
