Driving school simulator feedback data for AI

An instructor note can refer to a cue that happened in an earlier run.

An instructor note can refer to a cue that happened in an earlier run. NHTSA discusses pre-licensure driver education. A school can build a detached records exercise that asks a model to link a note and scenario without giving real-time driving guidance. NHTSA pre-licensure driver education context

Create two artificial practice runs and a timestamped instructor note for one. Give the second an ambiguous cue with no verified match. Ask which evidence belongs to each run and what an instructor must review. Score attribution and timing independently of any licensing judgment.

Keep actual routes, learner records, vehicle and device identifiers, video of roads or students, and safety incidents private. Use synthetic records rather than recording a drive.

Describe an offline simulator review task

Original Fiund exercise

A debrief cue belongs to a run, not just a matching timestamp

Two fabricated simulator runs use abstract event labels. This is a detached attribution exercise, with no driving procedure, licensing judgment or real learner information.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
DS1Practice run R1 timelineScenario Blue; cue C appears at 00:20.
DS2Instructor noteExplicitly names R1 / Blue / 00:20 and records exercise observation X.
DS3Practice run R2 timelineScenario Amber; cue C appears at 00:20 too. An unlabeled note says X at 00:20 without run or scenario.

Question for the model

Which run has an attributable instructor observation, and can the unlabeled note establish the same result for R2?

Show the reference answer and checks

DS2 explicitly joins the observation to R1, scenario Blue and cue time 00:20 in DS1. R2 shares a cue label and time but has a different run and scenario. The unlabeled note in DS3 lacks those identifiers and cannot establish an R2 observation. Flag it for instructor review rather than copying the R1 finding across runs or using it to judge readiness.

  • Matching instructor notes using elapsed time alone.
  • Treating recurring cue C as a unique event across all scenarios.

Fields to preserve

Run and scenario ID
Defines the source session for feedback.
Event time and cue
Locates the observation within the identified run.
Attribution confidence and reviewer
Makes an ambiguous note a review item rather than a result.

Test another case

Use R2's cue C at 00:25 and attach a verified note referencing that later time. Test whether the model aligns it to R2 without importing the earlier R1 timestamp.

Use synthetic timelines only. Exclude real routes, students, vehicle IDs, road video, device data and safety incidents.

Discuss a contribution

Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project. The contributor agreement defines Fiund’s licensing authority and compensation. A guide or fictional exercise does not establish an accepted collection or a sale.
