Drafting markup and drawing dimension revision data for AI

Drafting services often receive a markup, revise a source drawing and issue a new copy.

Drafting services often receive a markup, revise a source drawing and issue a new copy. NIBS BIM planning resources show why information exchanges need defined requirements and responsible parties. A drafting sample can test whether software follows a marked change through to the exported drawing. NIBS BIM execution planning

Draw a simple original display stand. Mark one dimension for change and keep a similarly labeled dimension unchanged. Include a draft revision where the dimension was entered in the wrong unit, followed by the authorized sheet. Ask the model to identify the changed feature and cite the correct unit and issue identifier.

Use original geometry and dummy sheet stamps. Exclude client CAD, title blocks, licensed libraries and permit drawings. Keep the evaluation focused on matching visible evidence.

Describe an original drafting revision sample

Original Fiund exercise

The issued drawing resolves a wrong-unit draft without changing a neighboring dimension

An original display-stand sketch uses artificial dimensions and dummy issue stamps. It provides no engineering, manufacturing or permitting instruction.

Fictional records supplied to the evaluator
RecordSourceWhat it records
DD1Practice markupChange dimension D1 from 20 mm to 25 mm. Similar label D1A remains 8 mm.
DD2Unissued draft BD1 entered as 25 cm by mistake; D1A remains 8 mm.
DD3Authorized issue CD1=25 mm; D1A=8 mm. Issue C supersedes the draft and references the markup.

Question for the model

Which value and unit does the authorized issue support for each dimension, and why should the numeric 25 in draft B not be treated as equivalent?

Show the reference answer and checks

DD3 supports D1 at 25 mm and D1A at its unchanged 8 mm, matching DD1's scoped markup. DD2's 25 cm has the same digits but a different unit and is an unissued erroneous draft. The authorized issue resolves that discrepancy; it does not change the similarly named D1A. Cite feature, unit and issue identity rather than matching on a bare number or label prefix.

  • Ignoring a unit error because the numeric value matches the markup.
  • Applying D1's change to D1A or selecting an unissued draft over the authorized sheet.

Fields to preserve

Exact dimension identifier
Separates similar labels.
Value and unit
Preserves dimensional meaning.
Markup, draft and issue relationship
Shows which revision is authorized.

Test another case

Provide a new authorized inch-based sheet with its own explicit conversion note. Require source- and unit-specific comparison instead of rejecting all changed units automatically.

Use original geometry and dummy stamps. Exclude client CAD, title blocks, libraries and permit drawings.

Describe the sources you control, the task they could support and what has already been checked. Use the existing-data assessment for an archive or the collection brief for a new recording project.
